INTRODUCTION
Sustainable tourism refers to the travelling of people without harming the environment,
nature and the culture of that place where these tourist visits. The development of tourist industry
or destination causes damage to their resources which needs to take into consideration. For this
sustainable tourism was developed in which the resources of tourist places are saved and secure
to sustain them for long. The report has taken a reference of TUI group, a German organisation
of travel and tourism (Ali and Frew, 2013). The company is considered as a largest leisure
company which owns several travel agencies, hotels, cruise, airlines and retail stores.
This report includes talks about the adverse effect of tourism industry and the resulting
development of sustainability tourism. It also covers the process which is required to develop an
effective sustainability tourism strategy along with the contribution of key stakeholders/ tourism
partners to global sustainable tourism strategic development.

P1 The adverse impacts of travel and tourism that have driven the need for sustainable tourism
development.
Tourism industry brings the income into the economy through the people who comes at
their places and spends the money. But this also have great impact on the resources of that
region, that's why sustainability tourism was developed. Their was a high need for sustainable
development because-
Scare resources- Due to excessive and careless use of the resources earlier, now the
places are facing the problem for scarcity of resources. The resources are scare due to which
tourist and travellers faces problems such as lack of electricity, water, transport facility, remote
communication facilities, etc (Ali and Frew 2013). Due to careless use of resources underground
water has reduces and even some places it has just vanished, soil erosion due to deforestation are
also an issue to be considered. The resources are getting depleted so fast that they might not get
available to the coming generations. Therefore, the sustainability tourism was developed to help
in using the resources as limited and wisely as we can and use those practices which help in
preserving the resources (Angelevska-Najdeska and Rakicevik, 2012).

also the mere duty of travel and tourism industry to protect the environment from getting
damaged. They can use the bio- degradable resources or recycled resources to decreased the
damages. The travel and tourism industry can replace the use of plastic with other recyclable or
disposable substance. Also they can encourage the travellers to do sustainable travelling by not
harming any resource or culture of the places.

The sustainable tourism was developed which a view to develop low impact in the
environment and local culture, while helping the countries or places in generating incomes,
employment and local ecosystem conservation. It seeks focus on the balance development of
social, economical and environmental goals. Its aim is to eradicate the careless and unmanaged
use of resources in tourism (Dabphet, Scott and Ruhanen, 2012). This seeks tourism in a
triangular relationship between the areas where travellers visit and the habitat of that place,
travellers and tourism industry. Also, it focuses at maximizing tourism satisfaction by
minimizing the environmental and cultural damage. Various initiatives are taken by the many
institutions and government to protect the such impact on culture and resources. Tourism though
brings income for the region but also adulterates the local culture due to the involvement of
foreign culture. It also damages the pilgrimage and heritages centres.

important role in its development. The roles of various stakeholders are-

encourages the sustainability development. Government plays an important role in encouraging
the sustainability tourism by forcing laws and regulation on these companies which becomes
mandatory for them to follow. This can be very much effective and can bring change in a very
short period of time.
Tourism industry: There are some companies who markets themselves by using green
marketing method. In green marketing method, the company does its marketing by claiming it to
be a sustainable company which produces sustainable product through environmental friendly
process. The TUI group also exercises sustainable tourism because they understand the need to
