INTRODUCTION
Tourism refers to an activity in which people visit different places, locations across the
world. Main reason of this movement is fun, entertainment and exploring different places. Here,
individuals undertake several activities, meet different people that provides insightful
experiences (Aledo and Domínguez-Gómez, 2020). It is analysed that travel can be domestic,
inbound as well as outbound. In various countries tourism industry is consider as a great source
of revenue as it helps to generate employment opportunities for individuals within country. With
globalisation, now it is quiet easy for visitors to travel worldwide. The current report discussed
about data, statistics related to tourism at global level. Here, different bodies for the growth and
development of travel industry also discussed in the following report. Further, it consists TALC
model that is essential for growth of tourism destinations. Lastly, there are some
recommendations have been given in the present report for the betterment of global tourism.

There are several changes have been introduced within tourism industry at global level. It
is analysed that travel industry is growing at rapid rate that is essential for overall development
of a country. In addition, travel sector give remarkable contribution in overall GDP of UK by
creating employment opportunities. It is monitored that UK has been placed in top 10 frequently
visit destinations worldwide (Amore and Adie, 2020). There are ample of changes, new as well
as innovation activities have been introduced in travel industry in order to provide better
experiences, services to visitors. To meet with customer's expectations, automation, online
booking and payment facilities are some recent and most important trends in travel sector.
Statistics that describe recent trends in tourism are discussed as under:
National Tourism:
There are several people who used to make online booking as it provides them feasibility
to book hotels by checking availability. There are nearly 10 % individuals who execute last
minute booking thus highly depend on online facilities to ensure booking at last moment. As per
one of the report, nearly 3.5 million individuals have been visited at different destinations UK in
2009. In addition, the record have been increased with 9 % from last year data. With this
information, it is analysed that travel sector is the major source of revenue for citizens of UK.

Income of nearly 15 billion has been received by country with overnight visitors. As per the
current pandemic situation, whole tourism sector at global level is facing tremendous decrease in
number of visitors.
International Tourism:
Here, travel sector gives significant contribution of 3.6 % in the GDP of world. In
addition, it is consider as a great source of revenue and employment generation as there are
nearly 77 million people globally who are working in respective field. World Tourism
Organisation( WTO) is expecting rise in number of visitors at global level within upcoming
years. There are nearly 40. 9 million people from different countries visited to UK who spend
approximately 28.4 billion that is huge source of revenue for nation (Becken, 2019). As per the
report, travel sector of UK is expecting growth rate of 3.8 % on yearly basis. In 2018, there were
72.8 million overseas travellers have been recorded by country. In addition, the contribution of
travel industry in overall GDP of country is nearly 7.2 %. it is analysed that recent trends such as
facilities of easy online booking and payment, feasible check ins & checkouts, automation and
more are some of the most important reason of rise in number of visitors within nation.
With above statistics, it is seen that there travel industry at global level is flourishing but
current pandemic outbreak is creating huge constraints in the overall growth and development of
industry.
P2) Characteristic of tourism receiving as well as generating areas globally
Tourism sector is highly affected with different factors such as economic, demographic
and geographical conditions of a country. These factors put a great impact on overall industry
that need to monitor on regular basis. These attributes are discussed as under:
Economical Factors: This factor is really essential as it demonstrates the capability ,
resources of a country to serve visitors in better manner. It is monitored that countries that are
financially sounds are able to attract more number of travellers (Borsekova, Vaňová and
Vitálišová, 2017). Here, London acquires remarkable economic status and consider as an
economical strong country at global level. So, there are several national as well international
travellers visit country due to availability of better services.

It refers to united nations world tourism organisation that was initiated in the year of
1978 (Reintinger, Berghammer and Schmude, 2016). Since establishment, it is performing ample
of responsibilities for growth & development of travel industry globally. Role of this
organisation are outlined below:
 Here, several seminars, work shops and conferences are arranged by this body in order to
provide necessary benefits related to infrastructure and culture development to member
countries.
 It also offers necessary support, guidance as well as proper leadership for the betterment
of tourism sector at international level. In addition, it is focusing to enhance the level of creativity, innovation and digitalization

This organisation is well known with the name of international air transport association.

PATA stands for Pacific Asian travel association that was established in 1951 with an

different countries. The organisation headquartered in Bangkok. Some of its responsibilities are
mentioned as under:

enhancement.
 In addition, it also provides adequate financial assistance for proper maintenance and
development of tourist destinations.

worldwide for the evolution of tourism sector. Main aim of these organisations is to develop
proper infrastructure, facilities for the betterment of tourism destinations so that travellers get

each other in an efficient manner.

There are several challenges, issues are being faced by travel industry that may bring
various uncertainties for future growth and development (Rogerson, 2017). These elements will
put adverse impact over travel sector that will reduce down the opportunities of profitability. In
addition, different elements such as technological, political and other external factors may bring
challenges and issues for travel sector which are mentioned as under:

Political: It is consider as one of the major threat for overall development of travel
industry. Here, government of different countries bring several changes in Visa policies and
requirements that adversely affect number of travellers within nation. In addition, terrorism is
another factor which is emerging at global level. Due to this, people are likely to avoid travelling
in such nations. Therefore, political environment of a country may act as a constraint in the
overall growth of travel industry.
Environmental: As per the current scenario, people are more concern about health thus
prefer to visit such a location that is surrounded with better environmental as well as climate
conditions (Saarinen and Gill, 2018) . This factor highly affect travel industry by making
changes in present climate condition due to unethical practices. So, it is highly crucial for nations
to keep hygienic, clean environment to attract visitors. In the current pandemic condition, it is
essential to maintain proper services of sanitisation and hygiene to ensure safety & security of
travellers. Due to present environmental conditions visitors tend to avoid travelling from one

contingency situation, risk management are developed at global level for the effective recovery
of disasters.
Dealing with safety issues: It is essential to keep the safety of travellers on priority for
the betterment of whole travel industry. For this, government is required to take necessary
measures to ensure security of visitors within country. They are required to take care of proper
hygiene and environment al conditions to ensure a safe visit for visitors.
It is monitored that there are numerous challenges are being faced by travel sector which
is affecting the whole industry significantly. This threats put higher impact on number of visitors
within country. So, it is crucial for authorise to adopt necessary strategies in order to ensure
higher growth and development of tourism industry. This recommendations will help to manage
higher number of travellers within country.

revenue generation but also give significance contribution in GDP of country. Discussion has

environmental conditions that affect number of tourist. In addition, TALC model is used to
