INTRODUCTION
Global tourism is basically that tourism that crosses the boundaries of nations and it
includes travelling and staying in places outside the their usual environment for leisure, business
or any other purposes. With the development of concept of globalisation, international or global
tourism is also becoming a popular global leisure activity (Brondoni, 2016). The government and
other organisation are also making efforts for enhancing global tourism as it is having an
important contribution in economic growth of nation. It creates better job opportunities and also
provide a source of income for local people of the nation.
This report includes interpretation of statistics to accurately present an overview of
nature and trends of tourism on global sale. Beside this, an investigation of characteristics of key
tourist generating areas of world is also made. Reasons for growth of key global tourism
generating areas are also made. A comparison and contrast between range of emerging global
tourism and destination life cycle is also included. Further, this report also consist role and
responsibility of international organisations in development of global tourism. Finally, a review
on significance of various threats, issues and challenges to future development of global tourism
is also made.

P1) Interpretation of Statistics to accurately present an overview of nature and trend of tourism
on global scale.
The popularity of global tourism is increasing day by day thus many new trends and
nature are also developing. The new trend which are shown in travel and tourism sector to attain
rapid growth includes following :
Use of internet: With the increasing use of internet it become much easy for customers
to get information about new packages and destinations offered by any travel agent thus, it
encourage them to plan a tour at some beautiful destinations (Cornelissen, 2017). It has also
reduced the barriers of boundaries of nation thus, lead to better development of global tourism.
Online information collection- With the improvement in technology it become easy for
travel agents to get information about customers who likes travelling thus, they can approach
them easily with use of internet and social made thus, target market for travel agents has
increased with online information collection.

Online booking- Now customers can easily book their tickets through making use of
online website and mobile app which provide them convince thus, encourages customers who
resides at different location of world for travelling (Dearborn and Stallmeyer 2016).

The above graphs and table is clearly showing that nature and trend of tourism are rapidly
increasing at global scale. With advancement in technology use of internet will get increased
from 58% to 95 % for assessing information about latest and new destinations for travelling.
Travel agent will also started relying on online collection of data as it provide easy assess to
centromeres which will be increase from 40% to 90%. Online booking and review and feedback
are also trending in global tourism sector (Current Global Tourism, 2019).
The increasing trend of global tourism has also lead to development of destinations so
that a lager number of visitors an be attracted (Ezeuduji, 2015). Government and other
organisations are also making effort for increasing growth of Global tourism as it provide better
revenue and also improve economic growth of nation. The top tourist destination of the world
on the basis of their revenue and number of visitors are provided below:

Interpretation
From the above table it can be interpreted that tourism sector is growing with a fact
speed. In 2016, the most visited place is France with 83.7 million visitors but it provide tourism
at some low rates as compared to other countries so it is at 4th position in terms of revenue
earned. The immediate competitor of France is USA with around 74.8 million visitors and also

earned good amount of revenue (Glaesser, and et. al., 2017)). Spain and China are also holding
good positions and China earned the highest amount of revenue from tourist sector. UK and
Russia are also among top destinations of world with around 32 and 29 million visors
respectively and earning around $ 44 and 35 billion revenue in 2016 (International Tourism
Results, 2019).
The scope of and trend of global tourist is increasing which can be seen from the below
table which is showing increase in number of visitors from 2016 to 2017.
Interpretation:
In 2017, from above graph it can be interpreted that France is at top on the basis of
tourism arrival in which around 87 million tourist visited in 2017 which is 5% more than last
year. Spain is at second position with 82 million tourist and USA is at third with around 76
million visitors in 2017. China and Italy are also among top Five tourist arrivals in 2017 with 61
million and 58 million tourist respectively (International Tourism Results, 2019).
The nature and scale of global tourism has been positively influenced by the emerging
economies as global tourism is providing better source of employment and also facilitates
effective integration and connection among economies thus, all nations at global level are
making efforts for development and betterment of global tourism. The emerging economies like
France, Spain, USA, China, etc. are spending a lot of amount for creation of better tourist
destination so that a higher amount of foreign revenues can be earned to make the economy of
nation more strong and fast growing.

P2. Characteristic of key tourist generating and receiving areas of the world
The trend of global tourism is increasing in recent years because of various features and
key characteristics of theses tourist generating area of the world. The most liked countries of
world for travelling are France, Italy, China, Spain and USA and the reason behind this is the key
features of their destination which are provided below:
Natural beauty- The top countries like France, Spain, Mexico, China, Italy, etc. are
having vary beautiful natural sites and destination which attract customers. The main natural
sites of France include Montsoreau, maine-et-loire, Minerve,Herault, etc. the beautiful natural
sites of Spain include Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park, Somiedo Natural Park, Gaztelugatxe,
etc. In Mexico main attraction of visitors are Sumidero Canyon, Agua Azul Waterfalls, etc. the
most liked natural places of China and Italy includes, Positano, Venice, San Gimignano etc. all
these destinations attract and influence nature lovers and other travelled to experience their
beauty, thus, numbers of visitors are increasing in these countries (Higham, 2018).
Popularity: The factor that attract customers for visit is the popularity of the destination .
Like in UK there are many famous destination like in London, Fairy wheel, Big Ben, etc. are the
main attraction of visitors. Amsterdam is popular for its historic building, canal, Anne frank
house, etc. Beside this, France especially Paris is world famous for its Eiffel tower. Thus,
popularity of a destinations is also a key characteristic which attract visitors.
Infrastructure- It is the characteristic that is most necessary for providing a comfortable
and best experience. It include availability of best roads, hotels, transportation system,

made for its improvement (Hitchcock and Teague, 2019). The most enriched countries which are

having maximum numbers of visitors and tourist includes Spain, France, UK, etc. The main
reason behind growth of key global tourism in these areas are explained below:
Natural aura of places with their culture : The natural beauty of an area or location has
the power to influence the mindsets of visitors which is creating positive sign for development of
these places. The natural aura or destination provide clam and pleasurable experience to visitors
that's the reason they are attracted towards these destinations for peace of mind and to get
relaxation. The main destination of Italy which are famous for its natural aura are Positano,
Venice etc..Beside this France is famous for its rich culture and beautiful destinations like
French Riveria, Marseille and many more. These destination provide a soothing and calm
experience and metal peace to visitors thus are the reason for the growth of key global tourism.
Insight into heritage: Travellers are having keen interest in gaining knowledge about
comprehensibility of the various culture of different locations as well as also posses interest in

tourist. The top tourist destination like France, Spain, UK, etc. are very rich in their culture and
heritage thus, create a pressure on visitors to travel ones in a life at such destinations. Snow

reason that push traveller for making visit. China is also very rich in its culture and heritage,
Shanghai Tourism Festival of China is one of the most popular event of the world which is
famous for its rich culture. Thus, culture and heritage of a nation or destination is also a key
reason behind increasing global tourism.
On the basis of above discussion it can be evaluated that the various factors like Natural
aura of a palace with its cultures and Insight heritage of a nation and geographical areas are the
main reason that attract and affect the statistical trends of global tourism. For instance, China is
having a rich heritage and culture thus attracts visitors who are having interest in arts and culture
where as UK is famous for its beautiful natural creation and Snow festival therefore, attracts
travellers who likes enjoying natural beauty and festivals.

cycle which are explained below:
Exploration- Under this stage, a place or destination is developed by people on the basis
of some special characteristics or feature it have like its geographical location, landscape, natural
beauty, culture, heritage, etc. This process is useful in finding and developing new destination
which provide better place for travellers to visit (Liu, 2014).
Involvement- After exploration, local people started noticing that particular destination
and with span of time this destination starts attracting more people. This stage also include new
related job opportunities like means of transportation, food, tourist guide, etc.
Development- At this stage, the developed destination started attracting big organisations
as new opportunities for revenue generation has been provided. Evolvement and attraction of big
enterprises ensures further development of destination through providing better infrastructure
like restaurant, hotels, complexes, etc.
Consolidation- Under this stage a consolidation or reduction is seen in other economic
activities like, fishing, farming, etc. because of rising job opportunity and increasing revenue in
tourist or service sector (Milano, Cheer and Novelli, 2019).
Stagnation- It is the saturation phase which is characterised by high competition among
involved organisations and related parties which can have negative effect on future growth of
destination.
Decline- It the last stage where popularity of a particular destination has started declining
because of any new attraction or other more popular destination.
With respect to above destination life cycle, it a comparison can be made between
similarity and differences of various countries. It can be evaluated that Italy is rich in natural
destination and have 17 most wonderful destinations like Rome, Milan, etc. which are famous
because of their natural appearance thus, they comes under the stage of exploration and
development that are attracting a wide number of customers. On the other hand countries like
Spain and China are more famous for their extraordinary technological and architectures work
thus, these countries falls under the stage of involvement and consolidation as many individuals
has made tourism their main profession in these countries. Further, USA and France are the most
popular and loved global destination which includes Grand Canyon, New York. Los Angeles,
etc. which are at their peak level and attracting maximum number of visitors every year thus,

that lead to development of overall GDP and also facilitates better employment ration around the
world. Some of the key responsibilities of these international organisations are provided below
which lead to growth of global tourism:
Reducing barriers for tourism: The main role played by organisations like TUI and
World tourism is that are reducing barriers and obstacles arising in international tourism. These

increasing terrorist attacks and various harmful activities, individuals are resisting in making trip
to some other locations or nations which is hampering phase of global tourism development.
Thus, it become necessary for government authorities and other organisations to make proper

Climate condition: Due to increase in scale of global warming index, rapid climatic
changes are taking places which are hazardous and lead to increase in natural disasters. Theses
climatic changes and adverse natural conditions are demotivating traveller and hence a reduction
is shown in trip to natural area which hampering growth of global tourism. These rapid changes
in climatic condition are forcing international tourism organisations to adopt policy of
sustainability development in tourism sector (Wu, 2016).
These issues and threats create a negative implication and impact on global tourism as a

are adopted and efforts are made by government and safety agency of nation to keep tourist
destination safe to attract a larger number of travellers. Many controls and acts are also made and
implemented to keep a check and limit carbo emission and other harmful gases and hazardous
waste to protect natural destination. Use of various safety measures and lattes technology are
also made to detect and protect visitors from negative consequences of natural disasters at tourist
destination.

From this report it can be concluded that global tourism is enhancing experience of
travellers through removing barriers of boundaries of nation. The latest trends which are seen in
global tourism are online booking, feedback and review facility, etc. The main features and
characteristics of a destination that attract visitors and travellers are natural beauty, best
infrastructure, etc. Destination lifestyle provide 6 stages for development and betterment of
different destination and locations to enrich the experiences of customers. Many key role and
responsibility are played by various international organisations like safety provisions, reducing
international barriers, etc. At last, it can be concluded that various threats, issues and challenges
are also faced by global tourism like threat of terrorism, rapid climatic changes, etc. which is
hampering growth of global tourism.
