stage of investigation procedure. Choice of the research approach is based on the nature of the
problem identified during the investigation. Research approach helps researcher in executing the
investigation systematic manner. It also helps investigator in reaching to the conclusion.
Research approach consists of detailed methods which can be used for collection, analysis and
interpretation of data. There are basically the two most commonly used research approach are
inductive and deductive. In present study, researcher have used inductive approach in
investigation. The inductive approach has been used as it has assisted scholar in development of
questionnaire for collection of the information related top the topic.
Research philosophy : It is basically beliefs about the techniques which can be utilised for
conducting different activities during the investigation. Selecting an appropriate research
philosophy is considered to be as very much crucial in research. It enables scholar to develop the
knowledge about the topic. The two most commonly used research philosophy includes
positivism and interpretivism. Scholar has utilised interpretivism research philosophy. The
reason for using interpretivism research philosophy is that it provide investigator an ease in in
interpreting the information. In addition to this, Interpretivist approach is based on naturalistic
approach of data collection.
Data collection : It is the most crucial activity in investigation process without the facts there is
no use of research. Quality, reliability, completeness and validity are the main factors which to
be considered while gathering the information related to the topic of research. Selection of the
appropriate source of gathering the facts relevant to the topic is very much important. There are
basically two sources from where the information related to topic can be accumulated these are
primary and secondary. In present study, scholar have focus on collecting mostly the first hand

basically two sources from where the information related to topic can be accumulated these are
primary and secondary. In present study, scholar have focus on collecting mostly the first hand
data, as this will help them in eliminating the chances of plagiarism which is considered to be as
the biggest ethical issue in research.
There are different techniques which can be used for accumulating primary facts or
figures related to topic these are survey, interview, questionnaire etc. The scholar has collected
the primary data using interview and questionnaire technique. Questionnaire has been created by
researcher himself and form consists of close ended questions. The reason for designing the close
ended questions is that researcher perceives that this technique will help them in gathering
relevant facts and figures. Investigator has gathered secondary information from the books,
journals, magazines, articles etc. In addition to this, financial report of an organisation has been
used for collecting the information about the performance of company.
Sampling : This research activity involves choosing the few people from the wide population as
a participant in investigation process. The two most commonly used sampling methods are
probability and non-probability. In present study the scholar has used probability sampling
method. Rationale for selecting the probability sampling is that this method provides an
individual a chance to be a part of investigation process. In addition to this among the different
techniques, researcher has utilised random sampling technique. Reason for selecting the random
sampling technique is that it aids investigator in eliminating the biasses. Investigator has taken
support from experts in order to ensure that they have selected the right sample from the
population. Researcher has selected thirty participants those are employees working in TESco.
Workers working in different department of Tesco has been selected as scholars think that they
are the people who can provide detailed information about the effect of globalisation on the
performance of organisation.
Data analysis:This research activity includes refining of information in order to make
information easily understandable. Data analysis is very much crucial as it helps researcher in
reaching to the conclusion and assist them in making appropriate decisions. Scholar in present
study has used qualitative analysis. In addition to this, thematic analysis has also been done. The
different themes are designed by scholar considering the questions as well as answers provided
by the respondents. The reason of using the thematic analysis, graphs and charts is to make the

P 7. Alternative research methodologies and lesson learnt
There are some alternative methods which I that could have been used in the present
study these are:
Research type : I think that I could have make choice of conducting both qualitative and
quantitative research. As I perceive that this strategy could have assisted me in conducting study
in more detail on the specific topic. I think that by utilising the both quantitative and qualitative
research type scholar can collect much information about the topic. The other reason is that both
quantitative and qualitative research type provides researcher an ease in presenting the
information. Selection of both qualitative and quantitative research type can be useful in testing
the reliability as well as validity of data.
Research approach : I think that deductive approach can be utilised in the present study. The
reason for suggesting the deductive research approach is that it will provide researcher an ease in
explaining the concepts and variables. In addition to this, I also think that both inductive and
deductive approach can be utilised as this will help in generating logical results.
Research design: I think that exploratory research design can be utilised in further researches as
this will assist scholar in developing the in depth understanding about the topic of research. The
benefit of exploratory research design is that it helps researcher in determining whether to
process with investigation procedure. Exploratory research design is advantageous in directing
subsequent research approaches. It also assists researcher in identifying the best approaches that
can be utilised for accomplishing desired objectives.
Research philosophy: I believe that positivism research philosophy can be utilised for research.
One of the reason for suggesting positivism research philosophy is that Positivism relies on
quantitative data that positivists believe is more reliable than qualitative research. The major
benefit of using Positivism research philosophy is that it provides scholar an ease in collection
of information related to the topic.
Data collection : I think that observation and focus group strategy can be utilised for gathering
information related to the topic. Alternative data collection will assist scholar in increasing the
efficiency as well as effectiveness of data. Financial document of an organisation can be used
for analysing the performance of company.

Research philosophy: I believe that positivism research philosophy can be utilised for research.

employees working at top level management in an organisation. As I believe that top level
management in an enterprise has more knowledge about company and effect of globalisation on
business performance. I also suggest that scholar should seek advice from experts related to more
sampling technique, as selection of the right sample is very much crucial in order to get accurate
results.
Data Analysis:Selection of both qualitative and quantitative research type can be useful in
analysing the data during investigation procedure. As statical as well as mathematical techniques
can be used for analysing the information. I perceive that big data method can be used for
structuring the data.
