1GLOBALIZATION AND CULTURAL REPRESENTATION
As stated by George (2018), the concept of globalization had been in use since the
traditional times and it was seen that in the ancient times the individuals related to the different
civilizations used to conduct trade and commerce through the usage of this particular process.
Chiu and Kwan (2016) are of the viewpoint that the process of globalization began to be
extensively used during the Industrial Revolution of England when it was seen that the different
business corporations used the improvement of transportation system and the communication
system for the purpose of enhancing trade and commerce. In simple terms, globalization refers to
the integration as well as the interaction among the people, business corporations and the
governments of the different nations globally (Roach 2017). More importantly, it had been seen
that the process of globalization had transformed the entire world into a global village wherein
business corporations from the different countries of the world are being able to conduct trade
and commerce regardless of the countries to which they belong (Buzdar et al. 2016). An
important aspect of the extensive globalization can be attributed to the fact that it had
significantly enhanced cultural representation or cultural diversity and greatly contributed to
make the world a multicultural one. The purpose of this paper is to undertake an analysis of the
impact of globalization on cultural representation.
Crane, Kawashima and Kawasaki (2016) are of the viewpoint that culture is the
amelioration of the traditions, values, beliefs and other attributes of the people and it
significantly guides the actions or for that matter the decisions made by the individuals. Adding
to this, Tsui and Tollefson (2017) have noted that the attribute of culture is unique to the
individuals or a particular social group and thereby over the years had come to form an integral
part of the identity of the individuals as well. However, the important issue arises since it had
been the people related to a particular social group or for that matter a nation often demean or for

that matter under-value the cultural values followed by others and on the score of this particular
aspect the individuals who follow different cultural values or cultural traditions than the majority
often have to face a significant amount of discrimination, social deprivation, stigmatization and
other kinds of societal evils as well (Cvetkovich 2018). This in turn had given rise to the
situation wherein it had been seen that some of the cultures of the world have not received
adequate amount of exposure and also negated by the individuals who follow the cultural
traditions which is being followed by the majority of the individuals (Sharifonnasabi, Bardhi and
Luedicke 2019). In this relation, mention needs to be made of the discrimination, stigmatization,
social deprivation and other kinds of societal evils that the indigenous people of the different
nations of the world had to face over the years from the people of the mainland on the score of
the difference in the cultural traditions followed by them (Buzdar et al. 2016). Thus, it can be
said that some of the cultures of the world have failed to get adequate amount of representation
over the years despite being practiced or for that matter followed by a large number of people
since the traditional times.
Price and Chambers (2016) are of the viewpoint that perhaps one of the most important
impacts or the effects of the process of globalization is the fact that it had significantly enhanced
the cultural representation of the different cultures and thereby made a direct contribution to
make the world a multicultural one. Adding to this, Tomyuk et al. (2019) have noted that this
particular contribution made by the process of globalization towards the cultures followed by the
different people becomes more apparent when the business activities or for that matter the
business operations of the diverse business corporations are being taken into consideration. The
business corporations prior to the usage of the concept of globalization used to operate only in
their home nations or for that matter in a particular geographical location only and thereby they
