GLOBALIZATION
Globalisation- Globalisation refers to the procedure of integration and interaction amid
individuals, governments and organisations worldwide. It is a multifaceted and complex
phenomenon and influences different components of community life from crime to culture, and
religion to finance (Hirst & Thompson, 2019). Sustainable globalisation encompasses a principle
centred approach that functions on the elementary values of collaboration, service and triple
bottom line. The TBL theory recommends organisations to display a commitment to focusing on
environmental and social concerns and postulates that the three bottom lines must be people,
profit and planet (Hussain, Rigoni & Orij, 2018). Sustainable globalisation signifies a
fundamental transformation and breakthrough how individuals perform trade in a global world.
Examples- Globalisation is good for a sustainable environment owing to the fact that
deglobalisation does not necessarily bring about a reduction in the emission of harmful gases like
SO₂, CO₂, NO₂, rather worsens the scenario. Globalisation plays an important role in triggering
the use of environmentally friendly innovations that can be implemented across countries that
report high pollution rates. Globalisation has facilitated the spread and usage of different eco-
friendly technologies like solar windows, power adapters, rain water harvesting or energy saving
bulbs that not only decrease contamination of natural resources like water, air and soil, but also
decrease pollution rates (Lal, 2018). Considering the fact that there are various nations having
inferior environmental standards, compared to developing nations, which in turn aggravates the
scenario of global emissions. For example, Iran has been hit with financial sanctions, thus
forcing the country become less incorporated in the global economy. The consequence has been
local production that has inflicted enormous destruction on the environment. In addition, the ban
on importing crude oil has forced Iran to refine its local crude oil, containing more pollutants,

thus affecting sustainability (Ratner, 2018). Globalisation that has been accomplished through
multifaceted consultations with the World Trade Organisation has also demonstrated that though
environmental protection is not a component of the core directive of WTO, it has encouraged
interest within the member nations for environmental friendly and sustainable development
based business policies. One such example is the green provision that has been formulated for
addressing environmental concerns that has been found effective in protection of animal, human
or plant life, in addition to conservation of natural resources (Durán, 2018). The role of WTO
trade measures in sustainable development can also be explained through the RTAs, which have
been identified as substantial components of globalisation. All nation that try to join the RTAs
have to concurrently adopt environmental collaboration agreements (Anderson, Kovacic, Müller
& Sporysheva, 2018).
Conclusion- The concept of globalisation affects my life since absence of sustainable
development results in a range of environmental concerns like pollution and climate change that
create a negative influence on our livelihood, health and lives. I am connected to the examples
since I have resorted to the use of eco-friendly products in order to confirm safety of self, as well
as the surroundings. Not only do I support the concept of fair trade, I also try to purchase
products that have ecolabels, which in turn facilitate the identification of their proven
environmental preference. Thus, there is a need to display the commitment to sustainable
development, while increasing the responsibility of countries towards the environment.
