Google cloud services or Google cloud platform (GCP) is a cloud-hosted Infrastructure-
as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), both provided and managed by Google.
IaaS provides a virtual computing infrastructure using web services, well suited for those
organizations that don’t want to fund their own infrastructure. Instead, they rent space within the
infrastructure managed by Google (Bloom & Pierri, 2018). Not only is it one of the biggest cloud
platforms throughout the world, but Apple also stated that it relies upon it for data storage for its
iCloud services. PaaS provides a controlled platform for solution development, along with a
structured and standard set of subscription-based internet services and tools for creating
personalized business solutions. In addition to IaaS and PaaS benefits, GCP provides its
users with access to integrated third-party programs and services, eco-friendly data centers,
protected service APIs (application programming interface) and authenticated access
(Oltsik, 2018).
Google products are priced differently depending on the various subscriptions.
However, compared to other cloud services vendors, Google is cheaper as it rents its own
infrastructure to other organizations. Also, Google has categorized most of its products
and services in such a way that, a free trial period usually 14 days or 30 days is given
before the client can start paying for services offered (Forrest, 2019).
Problems faced by Google cloud services
With any technology in the market today, products have their downfalls. Most of
the platforms’ elements are primarily based on Google’s own technologies. Therefore,
