Google is one of the largest American multinational companies that were established on 4th
September 1998. The CEO of the company is Sundar Pichai and the founder of the company was Larry
Page and Sergey Brin. So, in this paper, the discussion will be made on the Google energy requirement
and its management.
The company focuses on energy requirement in which it has been seen that focus is given on the
100% renewable energy. The company focuses on consuming the energy on the global platform with
renewable energy and also it helps to maintain the commitment related to carbon neutrality. Data centers
and Google cloud services help to store the data using the applications. The digital footprint is also
considered so that the negative impact on the environment can be reduced. The company has purchased
the agreement related to power in which renewable energy is purchased by considering the large projects
on the global platform. It also assists to minimize non-renewable energy. Also, Google is one of the
largest corporate purchasers of renewable energy (Google, 2019).
The company considered the approach towards moving into a 24x7 carbon-free energy system. It
has been seen that the company manage its energy requirement through the data centers and the company
purchase the surplus of renewable energy in different regions. The renewable resources are also
purchased on the basis of the concept related to zero out of the overall carbon footprint of the use of the
electricity. The company has set up the data centers so that it can be easy to attain growth (Stevens, Xie
& Peng,2016). Google also focused on establishing data centers as it helps to focus on the proper
utilization of resources. The Google cloud is established so that it can be easy to maintain the efficiency
of employees. There are many data centers which are considered for non-computing and also for
managing the overhead. The company also reduced the overhead by 12% and also the energy is
maintained by using the latest machines. The sources are also included in the overhead which helps the
company in maintaining the entire metric. It can be seen that Green Grid PUE measurement standards are
considered so that proper utilization of the resources can be done. Google is focusing on maintaining
higher standards so that it can be easy to measure and optimize resources in an effective manner (Google,
2019).
So, it can be concluded that Google is using various techniques so that it can be easy to manage
the energy and also it has boosted the overall growth of the company in the highly competitive market. It
can be seen that it is important to focus on consuming the energy so that it can be easy to attain the
growth in context to the overall activities.
