 Health and social care policies can be defined as plans, decisions and actions that are
undertaken in order to achieve specific healthcare goals within the society.
 There are various kinds of polices and procedures within health and social care system
that helps impacts healthcare practitioners and their practises in many ways.
 This presentation will lay emphasis on ways in which legislation, executive and
judiciary set the legal and policy landscape for health and social care practitioners, and
key features of legislation, Statutory guidance, codes of practice, national and
organizational policy.

 Health and social care practitioners do not consist of a well-defined role but it changes
over time. It is influenced by three branches of government: legislation, executive and
judiciary. These three branches of government does influences legal and policy
landscape for health and social care practitioners.
 Legislative branch determines what program or service of care will be paid by the
government of and for which type of members of the society. Government financially
supports healthcare practitioner’s education that directly influences number and type of
practitioners.
 Licencing law of the state determines what kind of health and social practitioners may
perform what kind of services.

 Judicial branch is responsible for interpreting laws that are related to health and social
care.
 Administrative or executive branch focuses on development of rules and regulations
that further helps in interpreting the laws and oversees implementation of different
kinds of health and social care programs.
