B) Critical reflection
Introduction
This critical reflection will focus upon applying previous learning and skills to post
graduate studies and ways in which graduate skills can be transferred for development as future
nurse. For this, this critical reflection will focus upon explaining ways in which graduate skills
and knowledge can be applied to postgraduate studies, ways in which different evidence base can
be used for development of evidence base for care, then explanation of importance of resilience
and self-management and ways in which it can be used for development as a professional, then
ability to seek feedback for self- management and applicability of holistic patient care will be
explained. Evidence base plays a vital and important role in nursing practice as it directly helps

in identifying skill gap within oneself that can directly help in carrying out nursing practice
(Rolfe and Freshwater, 2020).
Discussion
Appraisal of current level of graduate skills and critically analysis of ways in which these
can be applied to postgraduate study
By analysing current level of graduate skills, I have understood that there are many
different kinds of skills that can be applied to post graduate studies in an appropriate manner. Ine
of the main graduate skill that I process is interpersonal communication skills. These
communication skills have directly helped me in communicating with my seniors, colleagues,
family members in an appropriate manner. This skill can be easily applied to postgraduate
studies. Another important graduate skill that can be applied to post graduate studies is time
management skills. This skill can directly help in managing studies in an appropriate manner.
Not only this, it can further help in managing studies with practical learning or managing a
balance between learning and training in an appropriate manner. It can further help in effective
learning. Career planning is another skill that can be directly applied to post graduate studies as
this skill can help me in effective personal and professional development.
Critical examination and discussion of different sources of evidence and importance of an
evidence base for care
There are many different kinds of critical sources of evidences and each of them have
their own importance for an evidence base for care. Peer reviewed journal articles is one of the
main sources of evidence and it can help in development of evidence base for care. This is
because peer previewed articles are one of the best sources of reliable and evidence- based care
and practice that can directly help in development of base for care. Trial and error method is
another source of evidence as this method helps in gaining experience about correct method of
providing care to patients (van Timmeren and et. al., 2020). Working as a nurse in professional
arena can further help in working as an appropriate source through which evidence base of care
can be developed that can further help in gaining experience that can help in pro ding effective
care to patients.
Critical reflection upon importance of resilience and self-management and demonstration
of strategies that could be applied in the development of as professional

Resilience is extremely important in professional like because I think that it helps in
providing strength which is required and needed to overcome hardship. One can face various
kinds of issues and hardship and in order to overcome those hardship and issues it becomes
extremely important to have cope up mechanism or strategies that can help one in overcoming
from those tough situations. Whereas self- management helps an individual in gaining control
over one’s own feelings, thoughts, actions etc. as it directly helps in managing oneself so that we
can gain own desired goals and objectives. Some of the main type of strategies that can be
adopted and applied for developing oneself as a professional. One of the strategy is to show it to
seniors that we are reliable staff member (Saric and Steh, 2017). This can be done by embracing
one’s own network. By maintaining a professional network.
Ability to seek and positively to support and feedback aimed developing personal
effectiveness as a future nurse
I will focus upon asking for constructive feedback from my mentors, seniors and
colleagues who are working with me so that they can provide feedback about my performance as
a nurse. I will focus upon taking this feedback in a constructive manner. My cousin works as a
nurse so I will seek for his help in identifying improvement areas in which I need to bring
improvement in. I will also focus upon asking questions from him, observed his work as a nurse,
ways in which he uses his emotional intelligence will also be observed. This will directly help
me in identifying area and scope of improvement within my existing skills, qualities and
knowledge that can be used by me for becoming an effective nurse in future. I will also focus
upon attending training sessions so that I can focus upon bringing improvement within my
existing skills and qualities required to become an effective nurse.
Ability to work independently in practice and apply knowledge of holistic patient care
taking into consideration biopsychosocial factors
I have been working in health care field from past 11 years out of which 3 years I have
worked as a student nurse in Nepal, 2 years as a registered nurse in Nepal and working as a
senior health care assistant in UK since 2015 has provided with lots of experience that can help
and support me in working interpedently. I will further focus upon adopting holistic patient care
approach as a model for providing care and support to patients on the basis of mutual
understanding of their psychological, physical, spiritual and emotional dimension. This model of
care will further help me in focusing upon fulfilling biopsychosocial factors of health care which

will not only help me in working independently but will also help me in providing high quality
care to patients.
Conclusion
From the above reflection it has been identified that there are many different kinds of
graduate skills that can be directly applied to postgraduate studies. These skills can not only help
in completing postgraduate studies in an appropriate manner but will further help us in becoming
highly skilled and qualified registered nurses. I have also concluded that in order to become a
highly qualified professional nurse it is extremely important to understand and adopt resilience
and self-management as it can help in bringing improvement within oneself professionally. It has
also understood that in order to being improvement within one’s own skills it is important to take
feedback in a positive manner and bring improvement within oneself on the basis of that
feedback.
