Description of the organization
Supporting Single Parents is a non-profit organization, which extends their helping
hand to the single parents in terms of providing the much needed care, attention and nutrition
to their children. Collaboration with the other non-profit, public and private organizations
helps the personnel of Support Single Parent to upgrade the standard and quality of the
services. As a matter of specification, the organization is in collaboration with Africano
cultural Services (ACS), which is another non-profit organization, established in United
States (Supportingsingleparents.org 2017). It was started by a single mother in order to help
and support the double work, stress and burden of the mother or father.
Mission
The mission of the organization is to encourage the single parents and invoke their
confidence in terms of bestowing a healthy lifestyle upon their children. The personnel of
Support Single Parent plan to do this through the means of practically educating the single
mothers and fathers. Making use of the latest and modern resources helps the organizational
personnel of Support Single Parent to achieve positive outcomes in terms of proper
development of their children (Supportingsingleparents.org 2017).
Vision
The organizational personnel of Support Single Parent envision the creation of
stronger community feeling among the single parents.
Current programs and activities
The organization volunteers several programs, which assists the single mothers and
fathers to contribute in their children’s development. These programs include- educational
guidance; Back-to-school Drive; Parent Support Network; Holiday Gift Program; creative

arts, music and sports programs for the children and the parents. For sponsoring these
activities, funds are needed, which comes from the organizational treasury and the associate

would stage a dance show, for which the organization is providing free passes. Uploading the
news of this activity can be considered as an appeal to the public to join the efforts of the
organization in extending possible support to the single parents.
Need assessment
According to the census established by the United States government, 80% of the 12
million populations are headed by the single mothers. This is the calculation of 2016. As per
the current situation, one in 14 children are raised without a father. These are the children,
who are under the age group of 18 years. Among this, 40% of the families are poverty-
stricken. As a matter of specification, the families consist of single, divorced mothers and
fathers, girls suffering from unwanted pregnancies through rapes and the abandoned families
(Supportingsingleparents.org 2017). These aspects are alarming in terms of the development
of their children.
Apart from this, the story of Juliet is also very touching. She is a single mother of two
children. In spite of the lack to support childcare expenses, she volunteers and educates the
single parents in the field of art. She desires to re-enter into the threshold of school and
upgrade her preconceived skills and knowledge. The major drive behind this is to get a
secured job for taking care of the children.
These alarming stories of the single parents have compelled the organizational
personnel of Support Single Parent to levy grants for the upliftment of the children along with
their single parents. Typical example of this grants are scholarships and funds. Fundraisers
for this type of non-profit organizations includes celebrity recruitment, tournaments, galas,
