Summary of the Resource
1. One of the most crucial issues of grape vine communication is the lack of authenticity
of data shared within the employees. Considering the fact that Grape vine
communication network does not follow any particular set of rules, distortion of
information is highly common which often results in misunderstanding and conflicts
within the employees. Lack of secrecy is another major issue associated with grape
vine communication. Since employees are free to interact, secret information is often
found to flash out. Moreover, when compared beween grapevine and formal
communication system, the former is found to be more prne to errors since no official
rules as well as regulations gets operated in case of this type of communication.
2. Grape vine communication involves gossip within the employees. One of the major
challenges faced by the management of several organizations includes moral and
ethical concerns related to gossips. Employees of organization where grapevine
communication is implemented, often gets involved or get victimized of inappropriate
gossips related to their personal life. This imposes negative impact on the productivity
of the organizations. Employee attrition is a good example of the negative impact of
gossip. Grave vine communication bears the risk of attrition of skilled employees due
to inappropriate or unethical gossips.
3. There are both positive as well as negative aspects of grapevine communication.
