Graphic Novels are one of the most common forms of medium available for the book
lovers in the modern day itself. The Graphic novel is usually defined to be a novel with comic
content in it. Unlike the comic books, the graphic novels can include both fiction as well as
non-fiction and anthological woks. Graphic novels are generally distinguished form the
comic periodicals. In the recent times, there are a number of graphic novels which are getting
popular. One of these is the novel called V for Vendetta written by Alan Moore.
The purpose of this essay is to provide an analysis of the graphic novel V for
Vendetta written by Alan Moore.
V for Vendetta is considered to be one of the best graphic novels which is written by
Alan Moore, a well-known writer of comics and graphic novels itself. The novel tells the
readers about the rule of anarchism and fascism which takes place in the society itself. It is
through the portrayal of the events in the novel that the author Alan Moore tells the readers of
the graphic novel to analyse the concepts of fascism and anarchism differently and then to
determine which of these two forms is the ideal for the society in which the characters live in
both the novel as well as in the real life (Gray:40). The novel tells the readers the story of V
and how the how the various events centre around him in the novel itself.
The readers also get to be the witness to the various relationships which are being
shared by V with the other characters in the novel itself, including Evie, Detective Finch and
other characters in the novel as well. In addition to the relationships between the characters
and the events which happens in the graphic novel itself. This includes the setting of the
novel, i.e. the city in which the novel itself is set in. Through the full-page glimpses of the
city itself, the readers get an idea of the cities in the country of England itself and role it plays
in the life of V and the other characters. It is to be known by the readers themselves that the
cityscape has often been compared with Gotham City in Miller’s The Dark Knight. Apart
