Transmittal Memo
The study evaluated how the managers at GRD Corporation execute projects and how
they have issues with deadlines and budget allocation in some of their projects. The report was
completed with the help of our supportive supervisor. The research narrowed down to some of
the possible factors that might have led to the problems that the company was experiencing.
Based on five critical sections the study evaluated the operation and performance and highlighted
the key findings. We highlighted the recommendations that the company may adopt to address
the challenges in consideration. We thank everyone who worked to make the research viable.

Executive summary
The research focused on how GRD Corporation operates by collecting data on various
aspects of the company operations from the project managers. The data was collected with the
help of a survey which was categorized into five main sections. The sections include company
profile, project planning, project monitoring and execution, Team Management, and Human
Resources. The paper analyzes the data on all the sections highlighting the key findings in each
section. Various causes that might have led to the problem of delay in delivery of projects and
over budgeting were addressed. The paper highlighted some of the recommendations that the
company could have adopted to enhance its operations and correct the challenges in the future.
The paper is thus insightful and presents a good analysis gap.

Introduction
We are a local consulting organization that is based in Edmonton, Alberta. We specialize
in the evaluation of project management skills for the business that operate within the province

of Alberta and those in the nearby towns. Currently, we are hired by GRD Corporation to
evaluate its performance and address some of the fundamental problems that the organization is
facing. The GRD Corporation is currently faced with two main challenges that are greatly
impeding its performance as a company (Montequín, Fernández, Fernández, & Balsera, 2013).
The first problem that it is encountering is late delivery of projects while the other problem is
over budgeting in some of its projects. GRD Corporation Project reports shows that about 10%
of the past projects were delivered past the deadline while another 30% were over budgeted. The
statistics shows that the company is experiencing significant challenges.
The aim of the project is to offer an amicable solution to the challenges that the
organization is facing and to offer insight on how other businesses can addresses challenges. Our
company is focusing on addressing the challenges in consideration and helping the company to
establish a time and budget conscious working environment. We are going to help realize the
perfect working environment by conducting a gap analysis for the company so that it can
perfectly know where it is and where it will want to be in the future.
Our team commenced the project by conducting a gap analysis for the GRD Corporation.
We conducted a survey where we collected data from the project managers of the company. We
then embarked on data analysis using various statistical tools. We reported our findings from the
analysis and suggested some of the best recommendations that GRD Corporation can embrace to
create the budget and time sensitive environment.
The main source of data for our project was the survey which utilized data collected from
the project managers working for the GRD Corporation. The project management questionnaire
had five sections which helped to gather data relating to the company’s position profile, project

planning, project execution and monitoring, team management, and human resource. The
methods that we utilized were both qualitative and quantitative methods.
Our report clearly sums up all the activities that we conducted during the project. It
begins with an introduction which is preceded with the results from the survey. After the results
from the survey the key findings of the survey are highlighted before the recommendations for
the company are given. Once we clearly state our recommendations we give an appendix and
survey tabulation.

Section 1: position profile
In this section we focus on the first part of the project management survey which had
questions pertaining to position profile of the project managers. In position profile we mainly

address issues related to qualification and the experience of the employees with the organization.
We consider experience to be one of the most instrumental aspects when it comes to project
management. The experience of a project manager directly informs on the expertise of the
managers therefore making it a very vital consideration. We considered experience to be the
time that the project managers spend, plan, lead, direct, and manage projects. Therefore, we
believe that the experience of the project manager has a great impact in dictating the behavior
and the performance of the project managers (Meredith, Mantel Jr, & Shafer, 2017). The first
data that we are considering in this section is the time in which the project manager has worked
at GRD Corporation. Below represents the results regarding the experience of the project
managers at GRD Corporation.
How long have you worked in your current position?
We summed up the number of response in each of the four categories that we had and to
determine the frequency of the individual response. Thereafter we calculated the percentages of
all the categories. Using the data that we collected from the survey we generated a bar graph
using SPSS software. From the bar graph that we have presented above it is evident that the
project managers with less than one year experience were very few in the organization (12%).
Those with the highest representation were the project managers who had worked in the
organization for 6 to 10 years at 42%. From the data it is clear that most of the employees are
experienced in the organization.

Did you have project management experience prior to getting your current position?
The experience of the project managers prior to getting the positions that they are holding
currently was an important consideration that we considered. Here we only had two variables
which were yes and no. the pie chart below illustrates a pie chart generated excel showing the
representation of the project managers’ experience prior to getting their positions at GRD
Corporation. According to the data collected there are a number project managers who claim
