Introduction
Green computing is the computers and the resources, which are eco friendly and
environmentally responsible. More broadly, this is also described as studying the design,
engineering, manufacture, use and disposal of computing devices in the way , which reduces the
impact on the environment.[1] This report aims to discuss the general background of the green IT
and some of the current products of green IT with their benefits and drawbacks. This report
discusses the characteristics of the selected products of green IT and discusses the usages of that
particular product with the current and future area of research of the product, which will help in
approaching the new trends sustainably for managing the Information and Communication
Technology.
Background
Green Computing relates to environmentally friendly, renewable technology. This
reduces both the use of fuel and electricity, and while using a machine, eliminates environmental
waste. Sustainable engineering serves the same aim for green chemistry, and is also the product's
future, rendering the company more energy effective, rendering the discarded product and
manufacturing waste easy to be biodegradable and recycle less harmful consumer material.[2]
The environment gains benefits from Green Computing. Reduced consumption of energy from
renewable technologies results in reduced levels of carbon dioxide leading to a decrease of the
fossil fuel used in transport and power plants. Resource recycling ensures less electricity is used
to generate, dispose and use of the goods. This computing is also an essential factor in terms of
keeping our environment clean and secure. [3] It is impossible to settle obsolete machines as this
machine is active with recycling, so there is much for taking place in the landfill.

Green computing techniques also reduced overhead electricity usage and allowed full use
of the system via a technique like cloud virtualization. But developments in technology, like
expanded data processing and artificial intelligence, will limit progress in the strategies of green
computing. [4] The ever-rapid development in technology and innovation gives rise to several
aspects in which green computing can have a significant effect and tremendous benefits. The
advantages of green computing are immense, not just from the point of view of the customer, or
company, or nation, but the global benefit. Green computing aims to reduce energy needs,
pollution, and resources from how the organizations or individual employ socially friendly
technologies and the prices.
There are multiple products of Green IT, which can benefit the organization as well as the
environment in saving the energy and reducing the extra cost. [5] Some of the Green IT products
are:
 Server virtualization software
 Desktop power management
 Flat-screen monitors
 Energy-efficient cooling
 Green enterprise
 E-waste & IT asset recycling
 Going paperless
 Physical infrastructure management [6]
 Data center infrastructure
 Storage consolidation, virtualization and tiering
