Introduction
The LAN network provides the base for centralized management of the devices connected in it.
It requires domain server like windows AD or Linux LDAP. The Groovy Movies is a video
rental business company situated in the Perth city. They require a LAN in their office with the
domain system. And want to manage three department named as Inventory, Finance and
Customer Service.
There will be total 50 employees which are working in this company in different departments.
And the company wants multiple domains with the use of the windows server. And also the
different objects belongs to different department must be put in different Organization Unit (OU)
inside the domain server. So the management of the system will become easy.

Network Diagram
Now the requirement of the company is not very complex they want a simple network LAN
which can host multiple devices. So the network will require the implementation of the two
switches and one modem for internet connectivity; and all the required host machines which are
required in each department in the office. We also need two servers one is the Primary Domain
Controller and another one is the IIS web server for application management.
All the devices will be connected with the same LAN for the simple management of the network
and devices. Now, given below is the network connectivity diagram of all the devices and the
server.

According to the network topology diagram all the devices are connected in the start topology.
So the troubleshooting of LAN problem will be easy. And the entire system will easily managed
by the administrator of the company on daily basis. All the departments are connected in the
network according to their location.

Configurations
The configuration is the most important part of this project. We need to configure and setup
different server and devices so that they can work according to the demand of the customer. Now
we know that we need to configure three things:
- Installation and Configuration of AD Server
- Installation and Configuration IIS Web Server and Website
- Configuration of DHCP Server
Note that we will be using the windows 2012 server for all the configurations. So all the detailed
steps of how to configure all the servers above are as follows:
Installation and Configuration of AD Server
The prerequisite for this configuration is that we have an installed windows 2012 server on the
machine. And given below are the configuration steps how to configure the AD server and got it
working on the real network.
Installation of AD Service
Step 1: First of all we need to configure the static IP on the server for this we need use the
control panel and go to the network configuration setting. There we need to select the adapter
setting and set the appropriate IP which is defined in the project i.e. 192.168.1.151/24.
Step 2: Click the server manager icon from the task bar or it is already open when we start the
server.
Step 3: Select the ‘Add roles and features’ from the server manager dashboard.
It will launch the Roles and Feature wizard where we can configure different services on
the server.
Step 4: Select the feature-based or role-based installation from the installation screen and click
next.
Step 5: Select the server where installation is to be done. (If there is only one server it is selected
by default).

Step 6: In this page, server roles select the services of the Active Directory Domain. A notice
will pop up for additional feature requires so click Add to continue.
Step 7: Review the selected optional features and check any additional feature required and click
next.
Step 8: Check for the information that appears on the AD DS table and then click next.
Step 9: On the screen asking for confirmation of installation, finally review everything and click
on install.
Configuration of AD
Once the installation is finished we need to follow the following steps for further configuration
of AD server.
Step 1: Now again open server manager.
Step 2: Click on the Notification pane which is located in the upper right corner and a warning
sign is showing their. It will show some of the option we need to click on the Promote this server
to a domain controller for proceeding to the next step.
Step 3: From deployment configuration, select the add new forest clicking radio button option.
Enter the root domain name into it and click on next.
Step 4: Select the Domain and Forest functional level, and then input password for the DSRM in
the password field. It is required for booting the domain controller in the recovery mode.
Step 5: Review the warning on DNS option tab and click next.
Step 6: Confirm the name of NetBIOS and click next.
Step 7: Specify the location of Database, Log Files, and SYSVOL folder and click next.
Step 8: Review configuration option and click next.
Step 9: System checks the required configuration and process on configuring the directory
services if any issue it found it will immediately stop configuration process.

Step 10: Once the configuration finished we need to reboot the system and login again for further
configuration (Francis, 2017).
Installation and Configuration IIS Web Server and Website
Installation of IIS Web Service
The main installation steps for the IIS Server are given below
1. Open the server manager again in new server and click add roles and features.
2. Go on until we reach the server roles tab by clicking next
3. Select the Web Server (IIS) and click next
4. Click Add features when prompted
5. Don’t select any feature and go on clicking next
6. Click next again
7. The default configuration will be shown and click next.
8. Click install
9. Once the installation process finished we can close the add roles and feature windows
wizard.
Configuring the IIS Web Server
The configuration steps for the IIS Web Server are given below.
1. Again go to the server manager. And select the Internet information Service (IIS)
manager from the tool menu in the right upper corner.
2. Click Add website on the open window.
3. Specify at least the site name and path. And click ok.
4. Now the website space and ready and can be access on the web browser
By default it will show the default IIS web page. We need to configure the actual web server
application in the directory and MySQL database.

Configuration of DHCP Server
The DHCP Service one of the important part of the network project. So the installation and
configuration steps for the DHCP Server are as follows.
1. Again open the server manager from the task bar.
2. Launch the wizard for ‘Add role’ from the server manager.
3. Select the DHCP Server role & then move using the required steps that are needed for the
installation.
4. The wizard’s final page provides a link - “Complete DHCP configuration”. This
processes the tasks which are required to enable the DHCP server ole to work properly.
The DHCP Configuration steps
1. Launch the DHCP post install wizard and complete the required steps.
2. Creation of the security group for DHCP. For this to be effective the DHCP serve service
needs to be restarted.
3. Authorization of DHCP server in Active Directory is required to start serving the DHCP
client request.
4. After completing the post install steps the warning icon will be shown in the server
manager notification area.
5. Now we only need to define scope and other option in order to get the server up and
running. It can be done using the DHCP MMC either via server manager or via DHCP
MMC application in the start Menu.

This part of the report explains how all the configuration tasks are performed with the help of the
screenshot of different installation and configuration processes. So all the snapshots of the
configuration process are given below:
AD Server
The Installation snapshots are as follows one by one.
1. IP Configuration

12. Once the installation is finished it will show the following screen.
We can close the above window and go for further configuration.
Now comes the configuration part and all the steps are given below with snapshot.
1. Opening the server manager again to click on the promote this server to a domain
controller.

2. Specify the domain name.

3. Configuring the DSRM password

4. Ignore the current windows for DNS delegation

5. Check the NetBiOS name and click next

6. Configuring the path for database, log and SYSVOL folder

7. Review the option and click next

8. After that click next and the prerequisite requirement will be check and ask to install the
server.
9. Once the configuration is finished and it will restart the server automatically. And after
restart then we can see the new domain is setup.

Now, comes the configuration of the child domain. We need to repeat the same steps as above
but after installation we need implement second domain for the internal activity. The steps are as
follows
1. Open the server manager in new server and click on promote this server to domain
controller
2. Now define the new child domain under the parent domain

3. Now again set the DSRM password for the child domain
4. No need to specify DNS delegation

5. It will detect NetBIOS name
6. Provide path for the database, log and SYSVOL files

7. Review the option and process further
8. It will check the configuration and restart the server after installation

IIS Web Server
All the steps for the installation and configuration of the IIS web server are given below step by
step with snapshot.
1. Again open the server manager and open add server roles and features
2. Select Server

3. Select IIS web server and also .net framework in the pop up menu.
4. Check additional feature and click next

5. Check the installation services and click next
6. Review the option and click on the installation process to begin

7. After installation open the server manager and click on the tool to open IIS Manager

8. Click Add website
9. Specify at site name and path and click ok.

10. Now the site is ready and can be accessed online using browser the further configuration
will be done by the application team.
The above snapshot is the default page of the new site configured.

DHCP Server
The installation and configuration snapshots of the DHCP server are as follows.
1. Open the server manager again and opening the add roles and feature wizard.

2. Now selecting the DHCP Server role

3. Now check the required configuration and click next to process installation procedure.

Conclusion
Project required are fulfilled according to the given instruction and the implemented system will
able to provide the required services for the groovymusic. All the server will work according to
the functionality are configured in it. So there will be no problem in managing the operation of
the company. The administration team will have separate domain setup and all the other users
will have different domain. So no one can interfere in the working of one another.
