Question 1) an annotated bibliography
Article 1: “The Effect of Corporate Environmental Strategy Choice and Environmental
Performance on Competitiveness and Economic Performance: An Empirical Study of EU
Manufacturing”
Author names and year:
“Wagner, M. and Schaltegger, S.” and 2004.
Scope:
The article provides a scope to conduct more research works on the impact of
shareholder-oriented business strategy on the relationship between a firm’s economic and
environmental performance.
Argument:
The article proposes an argument in favour of business strategy and finds that the
business strategy adopted to benefit shareholders will improve firms' capability to strike a
balance between its economic and environmental performance.
Research Methods:
In this article, the data has been collected from the European Business Environment
Barometer (EBEB) survey. The data thus obtained were measured to validate the hypothesis
stated in the earlier section.
Conclusion:

3GSCM
Firms with a strategy to manage its relationship with stakeholders will more effectively
strike a balance between its economic and environmental performance as compared to other
firms.
Reliability:
The data as stated earlier has been collected from the Business Environment Barometer
(EBEB) survey. Since this is primary research there are chances of biases in hypothesis making
and samples collecting process.
Special features:
The special feature of this research was to identify the impact of ESV-oriented corporate
environmental strategy on the relationship between economic and environmental performance.
Weaknesses of the research:
Since this research is purely based on primary resources; hence, there are high chances of
biases in sample collection and all.
Strengths:
Population validity and reliability are the strengths of this research.
Article 2: “Green supply chain management and environmental performance of firms in the
bioenergy sector in Brazil: An exploratory survey”
Author names and year:
“Stefanelli, N.O., Jabbour, C.J.C. and de Sousa Jabbour, A.B.L.” and 2014.

4GSCM
Scope:
The research is focused on identifying the potential impact of green supply chain
management (GSCM) on the bioenergy sector such as sugarcane and ethanol in Brazil.
Argument:
The article arguments that, the green supply chain management helps to strengthen the
environmental performance of the bio-energy sector.
Research Methods:
In this research work, a survey was conducted on 80 SMEs who all are suppliers in the
Brazilian bioenergy sector.
Conclusion:
The results of this research indicate that green supply chain management can influence
the environmental performance of the bioenergy sector.
Reliability:
Since the research was done by conducting a survey, it is highly reliable. However, there
are still a few chances of biases in the samples collected.
Weaknesses of the research:
The weaknesses include ecological validity and inclusiveness.
Strengths:
Research based on surveys is quite reliable. The other strength of this research work is
population validity.

Article 3: "A taxonomy of green supply chain management capability among electronics-
related manufacturing firms in Taiwan"
Author names and year:
“Shang, K.C., Lu, C.S. and Li, S.” and 2010.
Scope:
The research identifies the impact of green supply chain management on the electronics
manufacturing company in Taiwan.
Argument:
The research identifies that green supply chain management can improve environmental
capabilities of the electronics manufacturing firms.
Research Methods:
The methods used for this research is the experiment basis. Few factors of GSCM were
identified and studied separately. It was followed by a cluster-based analysis.
Conclusion:
The importance of green supply chain management as a critical resource for electronics
manufacturing company was identified in this research.
Reliability:
The reliability of this study is high as different factors of GSCM were examined
separately. Hence, there were fewer chances of biases and the loss of data authenticity.

6GSCM
Weaknesses of the research:
Ecological validity and inclusiveness
Strengths:
Internal validity and reliability
Article 4: "A taxonomy of green supply chain management capability among electronics-
related manufacturing firms in Taiwan"
Author names and year:
“Shang, K.C., Lu, C.S. and Li, S.” and 2010.
Scope:
The research is being done to identify the impact of green supply chain management on
environmental performance (EP) of electronics manufacturing companies in Taiwan.
Argument:
The article raises an argument in favour of the GSCM and confirms that the EP of
electronics manufacturing companies can be improved.
Research Methods:
It was experiment-based research. With the help of few factors of GSCM and a cluster-
based analysis, the researchers were able to identify the impact of GSCM on the electronics-
manufacturing firms in Taiwan.

7GSCM
Conclusion:
The importance of green supply chain management in the context of the electronics
manufacturing company was the purpose of this research.
Reliability:
The reliability of this study is high as different factors of GSCM were examined
separately.
Weaknesses of the research:
The list of weaknesses includes ecological validity and inclusiveness.
Strengths:
The strengths of this research are internal validity and reliability.
Article 5: "Circular economy practices among Chinese manufacturers varying in
environmental-oriented supply chain cooperation and the performance implications"
Author names and year:
“Zhu, Q., Geng, Y. and Lai, K.H.” and 2010.
Scope:
The research is based on proposing a circular economy as a way out for the adverse
environmental impact of industrial sectors in China.
Argument:
