1. Introduction
1.1 Background of Research
This research undertakes an in-depth study to analyse and streamline the issues that
have been facing the Gymnasium Club Institution. There is dearth of improvement in some
relevant area of practice. This Gymnastic club, under concern is highly illustrated and have
futuristic training possibilities. The patron of the Gym is the chief decision maker who have
the necessary discretionary power to imply relevant strategies for the betterment of this
Gymnastic club. This Gym is included within the territory of an educational institution and
encourages students to indulge in varieties of traits of Gym work, the most common being
competition based gymnasium activities for both sexes.
The institute have received fair responses from candidates till now. However, some
organisational disorientations are limiting the scope of future development and expansion of
this gymnasium. This research aims at understanding how the limitations of the
organisational limitations are affecting the gymnasium. Research objectives emphatically
highlights the impact of the organisational failures on the future scope of the gymnasium.
Through an in-depth and relevant review of empirical literature, this research study aims to
develop an understanding of the ideal organisational standards and tends to peer on the ways
in which gymnasiums can motivate students and civilians to realise the value of staying fit.
Moreover, the role of Gymnasiums to promote competitive level artistic gymnastics have
been critically discussed in the literature review with specific emphasis to empirical findings.
Lastly, strategic recommendations have also been provided regarding the most feasible ways
in which patron can implement the provided recommendations to solve the managerial issue
that have been identified in the course of this report.

5RESEARCH PROPOSAL
There are several complications in the registration process that creates a negative
impression among the candidates of entry phase only, regarding the professionalism of the
executors at this Gym. The institution also lacks the attributes and/or motivation required
for the promotion of their principle sports event that is the competitive level artistic
gymnastics among the students of the institution where it is located. The Gym should also
conduct other promotional activities which would allure students to come and undertake
regular physical activities in order to stay fit. However, in spite of the fact that the students
are willing to join gym and work upon their physical fitness, they lack necessary motivation
(Zheng, Tan & Bairner, 2017). Another important fact is that they dread that they would be
subjected to tedious activities if they join the course of competitive level artistic gymnastics.
The gym management have also failed to undertake any substantial measure to eradicate such
abominations from the students’ perceptions and allure them to join the Gym for the course
of competitive level artistic gymnastics.
1.3 Research Rationale
This research study explores the limitations of the management of the University Gym
which in turn hinders the future development of the Gym. Another major issue in this
context is that, if the Gymnasium fails to attract newer candidates to join the gym,
candidature at competitive level of artistic gymnastics for representing the educational
institution would be at stake. In light of these major issues, this research tends to identify, the
managerial problems that have been at the core of the organisational limitations that hinder
the growth of the gymnasium. Moreover this research study also deliver a set of relevant
recommendations against the managerial and executive problems that have been faced by the
Gymnasium. Furthermore, the research proposal also renders feasible strategies and steps of
implementation of the discussed managerial interventions in the recommendation section this
research study.

1.4 Aim of Research
The aim of this research is to identify what managerial problems have been paralysing
the future growth of the Gymnasium and its efforts to develop adequate candidature for
competitive artistic gymnasium. At the next level, this research study also aims at providing
successful and relevant recommendations for mitigating these limitations and ensure the
future development of the gymnasium along with indicating the steps that can be followed by
the patron for the implementation of the recommendations.
1.5 Research Objectives
To identify the factors behind the increasing popularity of the university gymnasium
To understand why competitive artistic gymnastics have been the most popular trait of
the gymnasium
To identify the most feasible avenues in which new candidature can be gathered for
competitive artistic gymnastics in this gym club
To depict why the students lack the motivation to join the gym
To depict what necessary steps can be taken to entice the students to join the gym
1.6 Research Questions
Q1. What are the most important factors behind the increasing popularity of the university
gymnasium?
Q2. Why competitive artistic gymnastics have been the most popular trait of the gymnasium?
Q3. What are the most feasible ways for gathering new candidature for competitive artistic
gymnastics in this gym club?
Q4. What necessary steps can be taken to entice the students to join the gym?

1.7 Research Hypotheses
H0 The managerial problems seriously impend the growth of the Gym club
H1 The managerial problems are meagre in the context of future development of the gym club
and its proficiency in developing skilled competitive artistic gymnasts
H2 The patron have the necessary discretionary power to implement strategies aimed at
overcoming the issues at the Gym
H3 Patron do not have the necessary discretionary power to implement strategies aimed at
overcoming the issues at the Gym
2. Literature Review
2.1 Theme 1: The development of College Olympics in USA
This is an ever growing industry in the USA. The NCAA is the highest regulatory
authority for all club gymnastics in the colleges basically. The artistic gymnastics is a college
sport that is sponsored and endorsed by very less number of institutions. The MIT as well as
JMU endorsed the spread of school Olympics since the 2000s. After 2010-2011, the
government and other patron groups started to cease endorsing these Gym Institutes owing to
some internal policies of government restraints by the government. However, Marković et al.
(2018), is of the opinion that since 2012, the culture of fitness began to become a social trend
and people of all age groups actually began to take interest in enhancing physical fitness.
Irrespective of sexes, the American civilians started to emphasize on developing muscle
fitness and specifically having a proper toned body. On the contrary, Santos et al. (2015), this
culture of muscle fitness actually have very less relation with the development of the
attributes of artistic gymnastics. The gym rosters of artistic drill, according to Kerr and
Cervin (2016), is more stringent. Natural drill based toning of the body is more required for

the development of fitness and body balance that is required for the performance of artistic
gymnastics. As an outcome, Kolimechkov et al. (2016), opines that casual membership in the
Gym clubs began to increase and parallely the habit of practice of drill in schools gradually
began to cease. As an obvious outcome of this, the colleges that had official gym clubs felt it
very difficult to maintain the count of members. America is one of the most advanced
countries with large number of established artistic athletes. The colleges after 2012 had to
continue the operations of their gym clubs at their own expenses. Another major factor was
that since 2010, there have been observed a trend of gender segregation in the context of
membership of courses of competitive artistic gymnastics.
2.2 Theme 2: Government’s actions to support artistic campaign
In America, the number of female gymnasts pertaining to high school have been
around 19000. As informed by Lima et al. (2015), the American government have
implemented a policy of annually endorsing approximately around 1733 students who would
enjoy a scholarship of around 9.0%. Again, in order entice the male students to gymnastics,
the government have planned to provide them with 19% scholarship. However, Xu, Billings
and Fan (2018), opines that the procedure of the selection of the desirable candidates who
would enjoy the benefits of the scholarship. The American Government framed an advisory
body for this role which consisted of international gymnasts from various countries. Most of
the members of the advisory council are former Olympians. As per the ideas of Aleixo et al.
(2014), the major benefit of selecting members (ex-Olympians) from various countries that
they would be able to successfully understand the diverse cultural prospects while making
judgements. The government, as Carbinatto et al. (2016), opines, played the role of making
donations to the colleges affiliated to selective universities after inspection of the prospect
among the members of the gymnasium club in the particular colleges. The NCAA which was
given the primary responsibility to handle the program, innovated a methodology called the

Regional Score of Qualification. This process maps the average best scores of the six best
regular season performances of the candidates and/or the teams of competitive artistic
gymnastics. The best Gymnasts selected from the campaign enjoys high level of national
importance as well as enjoys high level of television coverage. They also get direct entries in
to national level championship which are broadcasted live over networks like Big-Ten, SEC,
and Pac-12 and so on.
2.3 Theme 3: Chief Factors for the failure of students’ gym in American colleges
One important factor as identified by Lavallee and Loubser (2015), is that many
college gyms fail due to address the gymming needs of the students with foresight and they
are the management and chief decision makers are not business savvy when the question of
executing the business strategies comes in the fore front. Sound education as well as concrete
planning is urgently required for overcoming the decision making flaws because of which the
college gyms suffer. In many case college gyms make the mistakes that the entrepreneurs
make while opening gyms. The patron of many college gyms are passionate about physical
fitness and understand the need to be physically fit. As Cervin (2017), opines, many college
gym patrons where particularly, artistic gymnastics are ardently practiced, the gym trainers
are patrons in the colleges who takes the chief decisions regarding the admission and
selection of the candidates for the artistic gymnasium campaigns. The patrons of the gyms
successfully elaborate the gyms with latest equipment. However, the patrons, as Hashimoto,
Osumi and Ito (2016), proposes that in many respects, forget that they need to have sound
and specific promotional strategies for the sustainability of the gymnasium. As informed by,
Ferreira João and Fernandes Filho (2015), in the initial days after the opening of the gyms or
the students of the fresh batches after admission, have propensity to join or visit the gyms
more frequently. However, they are not interested to join the rigorous exercise frameworks.
On the contrary they are willing to exercise on their own. After some time, Ribbans, Henman

10RESEARCH PROPOSAL
and Bliss (2016), opines the candidates after joining the gym, lose interest and/or stop visiting
the gyms. As an outcome, the students also lack interest after a certain period of time. This is
because of the fact that the gymnasium cannot promote the significance of their physical
fitness courses and render the feasibilities of joining the courses properly.
Another factor is that there is lack of professional maintenance of the gymnasiums. It
is evident that when a student walks in a gymnasium and finds that there are severe
ambiguities in the registration process, or maybe there is seldom anyone to fulfil the queries
of the students regarding the filling up of form or accomplishing the registration process, the
lack of professionalism becomes evident.
The college gyms are focuses on a common practice network. Personal emphasis is
paid less to the individual candidates and hence skill development remains to be a slow
process in the gym. Instead, Caetano et al. (2015), opines that a culture of “professional
friendship” is required, particularly in the context of college gyms. The training for artistic
gymnastics is a concrete procedure that require good compatibility and collateral-ship. In this
respect the role of patrons becomes critically important in the context of assisting the
candidates. On the contrary, the gym instructors guides the candidates based on a general
presentation. Generally, 25 to 30% of the students according to the data provided by de
Freitas and Stigger (2016), sustains the complexities and represents the college in the
competitions of artistic gymnastics.

3. Research Methodology
The research methodology for the following research proposal about the discipline of
competition in the gymnastics are described in the following paragraphs.
3.1 Research Approach
Research approach is defined as the plan or the procedure that is used to analyse the
steps that are required for the assumptions which are one of the basic parts of the detailed
data collection methods. The data analysis, collection and interpretation of the methods and
the approach is there in the overall research plan (Jebb, Parrigon & Woo, 2017). The research
approach is generally divided into two parts which are inductive form of research and the
deductive form of research. The inductive form of research is defined as the form of research
which is concerned with the formation of new theory and then testing the whole matter in
relation of the theory. The deductive method of the theory is that form of theory which is
concerned with the testing of the already existing theory and then testing it with the approach
of the research approach. In the following research methodology approach, the deductive
theory of analogy is being analysed the role of the critical decision maker in the artistic
gymnastic making culture in a college, the theories for the establishment and encouragement
of the students for the enrolment is already present which needs to be analysed and presented.
3.2 Data Collection
Data collection is defined as the process by which the data of a particular research is
collected and measured with the information variables of interest. The data collection method
is developed in the systematic manner with the level of hypothesis and evaluation of
outcomes. There are four methods of the data collection technique – identifying the issue of
the problems and the reasons for the collection of data, selecting the issue and the opportunity
for the case, planning an approach for the problem and also the methods of the case and then
