When I was young, I believed that work was not for young people and I hated my parents
when they gave me work. I thought playing and having fun with my friends was my final
destination as it kept smile in my face all the time. I hated doing work to a point that I did not do
any of the work given (Fierke, 2012). I n school I was very happy when the bells of break rung
because that is what I wanted most to play with my colleagues. I was unable to perform well in
class as I did not listen to my teachers well and I did not do assignments at all. My parents
advised me to change my attitude towards work but all was in vain.
It came to a time when I visited my grandparents during December holiday. Everything
became worse as they gave me a lot of work to do (Appadurai, 2012). I did not like the
experience at their place as I was tired all the time and I kept calling my parents to come and
pick me as I did not like my grandparents place. My mom kept telling me to sacrifice myself and
help them as they are old but I said no until one afternoon when my grandparents decided to talk
to me. They told me I should not fear to work as I will die as a poor person and I will not be able
to feed my people. My grandparents explained how people became poor such that they are
unable to feed their people. They explained to me well that it’s my time to read and be the best in
school and that changed me completely as they gave also example of rich people who did well in
school.
In the beginning of a New Year I changed my attitude towards work and I became a new
person. After the exams I improved my position every time until I started leading in my class
(Fantasia, 2014). My parents saw my hard work and they started congratulating me and buying
me gifts to improve. At this time I was able to choose good friends who we can discuss class
work with. Now am an adult person and I still believe more sacrifice and hard work is all what I
want. In all my jobs am awarded many times because of my hard work on the work and also

doing what is required. My salaries also are increased frequently as all my employers term me as
an employer who they cannot pay enough amounts of wages. I put a lot of effort in my
businesses and they bring back good profits. I have a lot of wealth because the hard work and the
sacrifice I put on my plans. I believe impossible is possible and I can feed my family and parents
also (Lopez, 2009). This hard work and sacrifice has impacted me in so many arenas, I am able
to sacrifice myself in all types of games and also am able to participate in any type of work.
Before game was everything but now am able to regulate between game and work.
