Summary
The minicomputer has many functions to manage different things, which required
completing a task. According to (O'Brien & Marakas, 2005), organizations require skilled and
qualified employees as well as equipped with knowledge of latest information technologies.
Information System (IS) and Information Technology (IT) are reshaping style of working at
workplaces. It provides competitive advantage to companies in the form of more customers and
better responses. From last two decades, information technologies have been making more
feasible and convenience to our personal life as well as it has grown exponentially.
Beside it, it has highly used in our professional lives as well. Employees can manage
their professional life from an efficiency and increased productivity using technologies.
Information technology has increased employee’s productivity with more accuracy and
inspiration into them.
Moreover, it is necessary to have knowledge about the storage technologies in computer
system, such as peripherals, input technologies, output technologies, storage trade-offs,
semiconductor memory, and many others. These types of knowledge can be used at workplace
for managing basic issues with computer systems ( Castilla, 2015). It can be used to replace and
repair different types of disk in computer system.
In case of chapter 3, I learnt about requirement of AstraZeneca, which needs IT, assets
management system. They take a solution from PS’Soft, which is a subsidiary of BDNA
Corporation, which is an IT infrastructure inventory and analysis solution provider. According to
(ELCOM, 2018), collaboration is necessary to manage different works of companies at high
level. In addition, technologies can provide effective communication channel to collaborate
between different business processes. Information technology can provide better communication
at workplace in non-verbal and verbal as well. It has given most of the business a high level of
communication that we have never seen in the past before. Information technology and its
knowledge make better changes in workplace. A productive workplace is a profitable business
that is one of the important ways to increase performance of employees and organizations as

well. Information technology has changed our workplace environment for the betterment of
business processes and growth.
In present era, computer systems are mostly used to manage different functions of
company. Therefore, it is necessary to manage different operations of companies in better way
using computer systems and technologies (INC, 2018).
Computer networks can provide non-verbal communication between different computer
systems, and it is abets way to save time and cost of company, such as emails, video
conferencing, and many others (Kenneth C. Mansfield & Antonakos, 2009). Workplaces should
update with technologies to increase profit of companies and employees are happy with
technologies to make their work easy (Malloch, Cairns, Evans, & O'Connor, 2010).In addition,
employees should know about the basic disks in the computer systems, such as basic and
dynamic disks (Microsoft, 2018). Technologies make a huge impact on employees and it a good
tactic to impress different peoples based on knowledge (Smith, 2001). In addition, operating
systems are highly used to manage different works at workplace. However, many employees do
not know about the privacy and security of operating systems (workplacehub.konicaminolta,
2017).
In next few years, most of the organizations will be based on the technologies and they
use different types of software to manage their business using different business application
software, such as ERP, SAP, and many others. Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERPs) are
integrated packages of different application to manage operations of an organization. It is a type
of software suites. There are many other things, which can used at workplace, such as web
browsers, electronic mails, weblogs, electronic spreadsheet, software alternatives, word
processing, and desktop publishing.
In addition, employees should know about the system software and operating systems. It
is also important that employee know about the programming languages and web languages as
well as their services. Employees should know about the open source softwares to provide better
solution in less cost (Rouse, 2017). Computer hardware and software provides many facilities for
easily monitor different activities at workplace. Information technology can be used for safety
purposes at workplaces. Companies can take many advantages form technological changes at
their workplaces, such as hardware, software in computer systems. There are many things in a

computer system, which has used to increase productivity of employees. In addition, it is directly
affects growth and success of companies. Employees should know about basic knowledge of
computer hardware to solve few issues, which are barrier in their work. It is a better thing for an
organization that their employees have basic knowledge about the computer hardware and
software. It can use for develop new innovative ideas to solve different issues.
