Supply chain Process of Haygrove
Haygrove Ltd. was established in the year 1987 and is well known organic berry grower with
farms in UK, South Africa and Portugal. Along with growing different kinds of berries, it also
designs, manufactures and supplier of products like field scale polytunnels, tunnels covers and
substrate systems. Haygrove operates from Ledbury in Herefordshire, UK (Haygrove, 2019a).
This horticultural company aims at producing soft fruits and develop technologies for poly
tunnels required to produce different berries in any climatic condition. The supply chain
management of Haygrove Ltd involves a large set of activities that are diverse in nature and
determines the efficiency and effectiveness of flow of information and goods.
Materials purchase
Purchasing of materials is a major supply chain activity of Haygrove. The company purchases its
metals, polyethene, supplies for growing organic berries, supplies for building the manufactured
components like Substrates required for the tunnels, steel frames, support legs, and other
requirements for growing berries (Haygrove, 2019b). The polythene and manufactured
componentry are primarily imported from UK market.
Quality Control
Haygrove works directly with its suppliers since organic farming and horticulture requires a
strict quality control. The company primarily grows berries and exports tunnels for growing
crops at any climatic condition. The manufacturing of polythene requires to be highly transparent
with low diffusion. This can be ensured using quality products from its suppliers.
Demand and supply planning
The anticipated demand forecasts, adjustments in the inventories, accepted but not filled orders,
and the after-market needs, and the spare part requirements are identified by the demand
planning of the company. The company has its logistics network, and production process in UK
itself to satisfy the requirements of demand.
