How will the patient experience HCAHPS score affect revenue hospitals receive?
The HCAHPS score involve various facets of care including the Person and Community
Engagement domain which is a part of the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). The
HCAHPS score uses this to measure the effectiveness of the hospital. Thus, the quality of care
delivered to Medicare patients along with the clinical practices promotes the patient experience
of care. If the experience is not up to the mark, then hospital does not receive Medicare
reimbursement but if the experience is good, then they receive Medicare reimbursement
(Zusman, 2012).
What is the benefit of improving the patient experience?
Improving the patient experience has a great influence on the satisfaction of the
healthcare members as a result; it also reduces the turnover rate. Also, the relationship and trust
enhances among the patients and the healthcare members (Agency for Healthcare Research and
Quality, 2017).
Are patient experience HCAHPS scores publicly reported? If so, why?
The HCAHPS scores are publicly reported survey of patients'. They are shared publicly,
because many hospitals collect data regarding the patient satisfaction for their own internal
purpose, though the HCAHPS scores are shared publicly among the hospitals so that they can be
compared locally, regionally and nationally (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, 2018).
As a new nurse how can you create an impact on patient experience?
There are three ways which can help a new nurse to have an impact on the patient
experience. They should have great communication skills; they should have better collaboration
