INTRODUCTION
Proper management of Health and safety is responsibility of employer as it includes the
safety health programs which is useful in focusing over the efforts for the development of
working environment. Apart from this if an organisation operates the business at the small level,
then it includes low risk factor but if company operate their business at large level then it comes
with high risk factor. In regard of this occupational health and safety factors put emphasis on
promoting and maintaining the proper factors of mental physical and social wellbeing of the
workers (Linnan and et. al., 2019). Prevention of the absence of workers because of Poor health
conditions that cause at the time of working in the organisation.
Workplace health and safety is all about converting the positive well-being within the
organisation in terms of providing comfort and happiness to their employees. It includes the legal
requirements of the health and safety by considering the suitable policies that include the
implementation in an effective manner for the wellbeing of employees. To carry forward this
research Sainsbury’s is considered which is the second largest Supermarket chain in United
Kingdom and founded in 1869 by John James Sainsbury. Company split itself into three
divisions including Sainsbury’s supermarket, Sainsbury’s bank and Sainsbury’s Argos.
Therefore, research include details about the concept and importance of Health and safety with
the help of suitable research methods.
Research aims and objectives
Research aim:
The aim of this research is “to identify the importance of health and safety at the workplace”. A
study on Sainsbury’s.
Research objectives:
 To determine the concept of health and safety at the workplace.
 To identify the importance of health and safety in Sainsbury’s.
 To analyse the benefits of health and safety in order to improve the performance of
employees.
