INTRODUCTIONHealth and Safety at a workplace is a field of practice which undertakes effective andnecessary precautionary actions and compliance with safety standards in order to ensure safetyand proper health of each and every employee and associated stakeholder of the organisation(Barr and Welch, 2012). The report below is based on Johnson Matthey, which is one of theleading speciality chemicals organisations in the UK. This company is founded in year 1817 andits headquarter is at London. Respective report is divided into two parts where Part A coversresponsibilities, laws importance, types of information and precautionary actions for ensuringhealth and safety. On the other hand. Part B undertakes risk assessment, use of equipments ortools safely and assessment of how health and safety practice could be improved at a workplace.PART A: QUESTION AND ANSWER1.1 Define main responsibilities for health and safety in the workplaceAt a organization employer as well as employees both plays major role in order tomaintain health and safety at workplace. There are several responsibilities of these staffs atJohnson Matthe, which are mentioned below:- a) EmployersIt is responsibilities of employer to ensure that each and every machine at respectiveplace is working properly. They must also develop rules and regulation as well as also ensure that every staffsshould follow it in order to maintain healthy and safety situation at workplace. They must also arrange proper first aid facilities. b) EmployeesIt is responsibilities of employees to wear proper dress according to instruction beforestart working (Lukic, Littlejohn and Margaryan, 2012). Along with this they also need totake care that they must remove all jewellery, loose cloth, tie long hair and many more. It is also responsibility of employees that must follow each and every rules, regulation,policies and instruction while working. Through this they able to avoid hazardoussituation effectively. By adopting and maintaining these responsibilities employers as well as employees ableto develop and maintain healthy and safety environment at workplace. 1
