Dementia can cause impairments in memory, communication/language,paying attention, reasoning and judgment as well as visual perceptions of an individual(alz.org 2018). Effect on Individuals: Among older patients, Dementia increases the risk of falling,and is twice as likely to fall compared to elderly patients with no cognitive deficits. Thehigher risks of falling also increase risks of morbidity, mortality and institutionalization(Aizen 2015).Effect on Family: Families also tend to suffer while caring for individuals fordementia. The condition can lead to anxiety and even trauma among family members.Effect on the Government: Apart from the effects on the overall well being, Dementiaalso reduces employability and reduces the cost of treatment of dementia as well as its co-morbidities.The research Problem:Risks of falling among elderly dementia patientsWho are at risk?The risk factors of dementia includes: age (above 65 years), family history, heredityand genetics, injuries to the head, cardiac health as well as ethnicity (alz.org 2018).According to The Guardian, African Caribbean and Asian UK communities are at the highestrisk of developing dementia, compared to the indigenous white population in the UK
