INTRODUCTIONQueuing Theory is a study that deals in determining as well as analysing waiting lines. Inthe context of given case scenario, an M/M/s/b model has been employed so as to gain valuableinsights regarding the burden on the Unit in different scenarios viz. 1 and 2. At its core, an M/M/s queuing system is one wherein there is a single queue with more than one parallel servers (s<1)(Kalashnikov, 2013). This report aims to provide a critical insight in healthcare operations usingqueuing models and scheduling theories so as to determine whether the hospital must expand itsexisting medical staff or not.MAIN BODYThe rationale to employ this system is due to the fact that the Outpatient Unit employs anFCFS/single line/multiple servers model which results in the arrival distribution of patients beingfollowed in Poisson Distribution whereas the distribution of service time on the part of the unitfollows an exponential distribution wherein s number of parallel servers are utilised.Scenario 1:1
