Introduction:
Woods et al. (2018) said that the degree of diversity in healthcare sector is emerging
in a rapid manner. In the same way, the rate of complexity is also increasing dramatically. It
is to be noted in this context that the healthcare practitioners are facing extreme pressure in
the way of offering the patients with high quality of treatment and care and thereby promote
health and wellbeing among them. Crowe et al. (2019) observed that the total healthcare
system comprises of patient, family members and healthcare professionals, who work
interdependently in order to have concrete and collaborative care. There lies the significance
of interdependency, which can serve the healthcare practitioners with the ability to offer high
quality of treatment and care to the patients by working collaboratively. Interdependence is
referred as the way of working together for the sake of accomplishing shared goal and
thereby enhance the health and wellbeing of patients.
Connolly and Wren (2017) opined that interdependence is the matter of utmost
importance in the entire healthcare setting as a single unit lacks the ability to provide
comprehensive care to the patients. There is the importance of interdependence, which aims
to display the working relationship within the healthcare sector, which is very much needed
to achieve desired outcome. Aiken et al. (2017) put stress on the fact that interdependence, in
its simplest form is defined as the quality and state of being independent, which can be
described as the reciprocal relationship in between the different entities that work together for
the sake of enhancing the quality of life of patients. This essay will put forth the discussion of
the role of interdependence in between healthcare practitioners in the way of improving the
quality of care of the patients. In this paper, “Healthy Ireland 2013-2025”, will be discussed
elaborately and the way, through which interdependence can be practiced in general nursing
will also be presented. The paper will mainly shade light on the notion of interdependence in

hierarchal relationship in healthcare, improving the quality of patient care, communication in
between doctor and nurse and inter professional collaboration.
Main discussion:
It is true that the economy of Ireland is rapidly emerging. However, it is important to
develop the community in such a manner, in which each of the people can have a feeling of
belongingness. According to Roe et al. (2018) apart from the population and life expectancy
rate, the statistics of mortality from cancer and heart diseases and infant mortality is also
increasing in a drastic manner. There lies the importance of improving the whole healthcare
system of Ireland in order to mitigate the above mentioned challenges and thereby promote
the health and wellbeing of the citizens. As discussed by Power et al. (2020) Ireland is one of
the few developed countries, which are facing major challenges within the health system. The
recent life style changes of people, living in Ireland is resulting in costly and unhealthy
future. In order to respond to this issue, Ireland government has implemented a framework
namely Healthy Ireland Framework 2013-2025 that can support the changing profile of
health and wellbeing of the country. As healthy population is one of the major assets of a
country, the government of Ireland is putting extreme stress on improving the health and
wellbeing of the nation. Healthy Ireland Framework 2013-2025 can be defined as the
collective response towards the challenges of future health and wellbeing of the nation. The
main aim of this policy is to improve the health system of the country, in which everyone can
enjoy mental and physical wellbeing and increase the proportion of healthy people of all ages
(HSE.ie. 2020). The fundamental goals of Healthy Ireland Framework 2013-2025 are as
follow
Goal 1 To increase the rate of healthy people irrespective of their ages
Goal 2 To reduce the degree of health inequality
Goal 3 To protect the people from the challenges of health and wellbeing

Goal 4 To create the community in such a manner, in which each of the people and
society can participate equally to accomplish healthy Ireland

Effective health and wellbeing improvement program require commitment from each
of the people, who are associated in the total health system. In addition, strong partnership in
between the citizens and communities is the key of accomplishing desired health outcome.
There lies the significance of nurses (Hse.ie. 2020). It is the role of nurses to build a strong
network of communication within the healthcare organisation, in which each of the people,
associated with the overall healthcare system can interact properly. Taylor (2020) said that
this is the way, through which a comprehensive decision related to treatment of the patients
can be taken. Such strong communication network within the healthcare organisation plays a
major role in the way of improving the interdependency among the healthcare practitioners,
which is the key of improving quality of care. It is important for the nurses to build
partnership and put significant contribution towards community development.
The life style plays a major role in the way of determining one’s health and wellbeing.
Therefore, it is the prime responsibility of the nurses to generate awareness among people to
avoid leading negative life style, which can affect the health and wellbeing of them. Healthy
Ireland Framework 2013-2025 put stress on extreme collaboration in between cabinet
committee, which is responsible for developing social policy, health and wellbeing council
and Department of health. Fundamental aim of this collaboration is to practice coordination
and thereby promote health and wellbeing of Ireland. Partnerships and cross-sectorial work is
one of the major themes of Healthy Ireland Framework 2013-2025. The department of
Health of Ireland puts extreme stress on building hierarchal relationship in the healthcare

organisation, which is the key of offering the patients with comprehensive care. It is the
prime responsibility of nurses to be relational and supportive at the time of dealing with
patients (Pye 2020). This is the way of keeping the patients satisfied, which is the key of
improving their health and wellbeing. Effective relationship in between nurses and patients is
the key of engaging more number of patients and thereby accomplishing better outcome of
treatment and follow-up.
Improved Quality of Healthcare
The quality that is associated to healthcare is one of the most important factors that
must be carefully analyzed in order to gain sustainable nature of outcomes in health care.
Quality is an important aspect that is prioritized in healthcare in Ireland (Tripathi and
Siddiqui 2018). Thus, it can be said that the nature of services that is the quality of the
services assimilate to develop the sum total of the services that is provided in the healthcare
sectors as a whole. The National Quality Improvement team in Ireland has prioritized quality
in healthcare and health service with effective planning (Martin and Manley 2018). Planning
has been carried out by the company with the ultimate aim to improve the quality of the
services. Thus, it can be said that the main aim of the latter is to develop a structure of
services with the help of which the health care structure in the country has been set against
the quality that the country plans to deliver. There are various factors that affect the quality
that the industry aims to deliver in the industry. The quality of patient care that is offered in
an area determines the sustainability of the practices that are to be carried out in the industry.
The quality of healthcare in the country, according to the “Healthy Ireland’ 2013-
2025” moves forward with a vision that is characterized by the motive of providing quality
health care services to the people of the country with the help of which the citizens of the
country are able to experience healthy mental and physical wellbeing. Thus, it can be said

that there are some key factors that have been developed in order to determine the
sustainability of the practices with the help of which the quality has been complied with.
Ensuring that people are free from ailments such as obesity or being overweight, mentally
health, ailments related to smoking, alcohol and drug abuse. It has been found that a major
portion of the population of the country is inflicted with being overweight. Among every 50
people in the country, 4 people are overweight (Lestari et al. 2019). Furthermore, it has been
found that there are various individuals in the country who are into smoking tobacco and
related products. Thus, it is a key point of focus for the health care personnel and
organizations in the country. Mental health, alcoholism and drug abuse are issues that can be
complied with high levels of effectiveness. The latter are factors that must be catered to
effectively in order to determine the effectiveness of the industry as a whole.
Regardless of the existent quality of healthcare in the country, there exists various
health conditions in the country that can degrade the quality of life in the country (Brancher
et al. 2017). There exists various ailments in the country with the help of which the aim of the
country with regards to healthcare in the country. The diverse types of ailments that exists in
the country. Thus, it can be interpreted that there are various ailments with the help of which
it can be opined that the quality of health care can be opined to be ineffective in nature. Thus,
it can be said that the aim of health care in Ireland is to highlight and elevate the nature of
health services that exists in the country. The aim of “Healthy Ireland’ 2013-2025” is to make
Ireland competent enough in terms of health care and related services. The quality of the
services that are to be provided in health care is likely drive the country to the achievement of
a state in which the number of ailments have been brought down and when people are
mentally and physically healthy.

Doctor and Nurse Communication
Regardless of the field or the industry in which one is operating, it can be said that
communication is an aspect that must be effectively carried out (Fotouhi et al. 2019). The
importance of communication is highly important when it comes down to the operations of
individuals in the health care (Oksiutycz and Kunene 2017). Individuals who are associated
to both frontend and the back end of the operations need to comply with a considerable
amount of considerable amount of communication. Communication is crucial in terms of
operations of individuals in the back end of the operations. The operations of the
administrative wing of a healthcare facility should be complied with effective communication
as it determined the sustainability of the departments that are related to the administrative
wing of the company. Just as it communication is necessary in the operations of the backend
of the operations, communication is crucial for the proceedings to be carried out in the front
end of the operations. Communication in terms of interactions that take place between the
doctors and nurses in health care can be deemed to be crucial as it determine the effectiveness
of operations and services that are carried out in health care. Thus, there exists importance in
communication or the interactions that are carried out between the nurses and the doctors in
health care. Communication is important when it comes to information interchange between
individuals who are associated to nursing. There are various issues that are associated to the
sustainability of individuals who are operating in the field of nursing as there are issues with
the help of which different personnel in the field of nursing can interchange and exchange
information with the help of which proceedings can be carried out in the healthcare
organization. Moreover, there are actions that are to be carried out by nursing officials with
the help of which one or other actions are created. Thus, communication can be deemed to be
an effective tool with the help of which actions are initiated within the nursing wing. Solving
problems and providing explanations for the problems are factors which determines the

quality of the services that are being delivered by healthcare organization. Nursing personnel
are the individuals who act as the mediums between the service that is being provided to a
particular patient and the doctors who are serving the patients. Thus, communication must be
the a repertoire of the individuals in nursing as it determines their ability to communicate
information that the doctors need to know in order to provide the services associated to the
betterment and the wellbeing of the patient.
Moreover, it can be said that there can be incidences of errors which lead organization
to development of hindrance in communication. Lack of communication in healthcare can
lead to the difference in the smooth flow of operations that are practiced in the health care
organization (Foronda, MacWilliams and McArthur 2016). Personnel in the front end
operations of health care that is nurses and doctors should be able to communicate with the
patients and communicate with themselves to identify the information with help of which
information can be utilized when it comes to providing effective services in healthcare.
Hence, it can be said that communication between the doctors and the nurses determines the
nature of services that are being provided in the healthcare services that are being provided
by a healthcare organization. Hence, it is an aspect that should be complied with in terms of
operations of individuals in the healthcare sector.
Inter-professional collaboration
Inter-professional collaboration refers to the collaboration that takes place between
the individuals who are operating in healthcare (Latham et al. 2016). It refers to the
assimilation of the efforts of individuals to collaborate regardless of the background that they
belong to hence, provide solutions to the patients, their families, the care givers, communities
and various individuals who are associated to healthcare. It is the ultimate motive of the
organizations to be able to provide health care services and improve the quality of life of the
individuals. It should be identified and highlighted that there are various individuals in

healthcare who assimilate to provide the healthcare services that the patients are subject to.
There are various individuals who are associated with health care. The professional can be
individuals from backgrounds such as marketing, finance, operations, various medical
backgrounds and others assimilate to form health care services. Thus, it is with the help of
various individuals that the services within healthcare are provided to the patients. The
collaboration that takes place between the various divisions within a heath care organization,
brings out the effectiveness of team work in management situations. Each department within
an organization is dependent on each other and thus, it depends on the effectiveness and
functional competency of each independent wing to collaborate and assimilate to form a
service structure that can help in bolstering the capability of the organization as a whole. The
significance of the inter-professional collaboration to determine the effectiveness of
operations of the service that is provided as a whole (Bjaalid et al. 2019). It can be explained
with an example; it is the role of marketing department of an organization to be able to
communicate the motives of the company as a whole. It is the role of the marketing
department of healthcare, to communicate the motives of the organization to the consumer
community and thus, the department determines the inflow of business in the organization. It
is the role of the financial division of organizations to deal with the financial compliances in
an organization. The flow of capital in an organization depends on the justification that is
carried out by the financial wing of the company. On the other hand, it is the role of doctors,
nurses and the health care providers to deal with the patients directly. It is the responsibility
of the latter to look at the front end of the operations. Hence, it can be said that the main aim
of the latter division is to justify the issue with the help of which the true motive of the
company can be realized. Thus, the nature of communication being carried out by the
financial division determines the communication that is being carried out by the organization
as a whole. It can be said that inter-organizational collaboration is a factor that can be

realized with the help of issues such as collaboration from all the departments within a
company. Thus, it can be opined that the aim of the company should be to highlight and
justify in accordance with the needs that have been established by the business model of the
organization as a whole. The goals that has been propounded by the organization as a whole
states that the need of excellence can be supported with the help of inter-organizational
collaboration. Hence, the importance of inter-organizational collaboration must be justified
and importance should be invested in the same in order to determine the needs that are
associated to the operations of the company as a whole. Importance of the same in health care
is undoubtable huge and the goal of healthcare in Ireland is to comply with the same.
Conclusion:
To conclude, it can be said that interdependency among the healthcare professionals is
the key factor of improving quality of care as it helps in integrating multiple skills and
competencies in a single platform. Healthy Ireland aims to create healthy generation and
improve the health system in such a manner, in which each of the people can access the
opportunity to enjoy equal and better health outcome. This is the national framework,
application of which can help in improving the health and wellbeing of the people, without
making any kind of discrimination. Healthy Ireland is the sum of whole-of-Government and
whole-of-society approach, which should be applied in order to accelerate the quality of life
of the people. Healthy Ireland can reduce the prevalence of unhealthy behaviours that can
ultimately result in chronic diseases and detecting disease at early stage and apply successful
intervention.
