This presentation explores the critical issue of health literacy and its impact on cardiovascular disease prevention within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population residing in remote areas of New South Wales. It examines the cultural context, health disparities, and social determinants that contribute to the higher prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in this community. The presentation emphasizes the importance of culturally competent and safe nursing and midwifery practices to address these health challenges and improve health outcomes for Indigenous Australians.
