This poster discusses the significance of health promotion in having effective and sustainable health of people. It focuses on the issue of obesity and its impact on physical and mental health. The health promotion model applied is the ecological model of health promotion.

Introduction
• The aim of present poster is to determine the significance of health promotion in order to have effective
as well as sustainable health of people. The notion for health promotion is categorized as an important
component for health practices. The promotion of health is a science as well as an art that helps society
people in discovering the synergies among their optimal health & core passions through boosting their
motivation towards optimal health.
Background of the health issue chosen
• Health refers to a specific state of wholesome mental, social and physical wellbeing which an individual carries with them. The health issue which is being
determined here is obesity. Obesity is a state where a person gets excess fat to their body and feels uncomfortable. This can be harmful in some cases can be linked
with asthma, cardiovascular risk, diabetes or any other psychological problem. This can be found in any age person such as adult, teenage, or among senior citizens.
Why is this an issue?
• Obesity is an issue because this is related with
mental and physical health. As if an individual
is suffering from obesity then they may have
improper mental as well as a physical health.
This can also bring a change in the behaviour of
suffering in terms of physical activity,
medication use, inactivity or different exposure.
From the past reports it has been found that
nearly or more than 28 per cent of the adults in
country are suffering from obesity in which
men audience are found with higher statistics
instead of women that is nearly 68.2 per cent of
men and 60.4 per cent of women. The people
who ranges between 45-74 year age group are
found to be obese.
How this issue affects
one’s health
• The health issue of obesity has a severe effect on
one’s health which can be in terms of physical.
Mental, sociodemographic or can be linked with
other body issue such as high blood pressure,
diabetes, etc. In relation to short term, it can affect
dietary pattern of an individual, physical activity,
body pain or difficulty in having proper sleep.
Whereas, on the other hand in relation to long
term it can cause high blood pressure, type 2
diabetes, heart disease, depression or anxiety,
gallbladder disease or any other severe health
issue.

Health promotion model
The health promotion model which is being applied to the identified issue if of “The ecological model of
health promotion”. The model emphasis upon interacting with more people and with their sociocultural or
physical environments. The model comprises of five influences that identifies & directs the behaviour of
health as well as its responses to the issue. These includes individual, interpersonal, community, institutional
and public policy factor. These factors suggests that for a patient of obesity the three influences are its
foundation that are interpersonal, community & individual which creates an influence upon public policy &
institutional factors. The main aim of this model is that it provides a complete view upon those factors that
can affect the individual health due to obesity.
