RE: REQUEST FOR AN INTRODUCTION OF A NUTRITION PROMOTION PROGRAM IN YOUR
SCHOOL.
I am Mr. KELVIN, the REGIONAL HEALTH PROMOTION OFFICER(Nutrition) from a local council in the
outer eastern suburb of Melbourne.
I am writing this letter to humbly request for a start of a very vital nutrition program in your school. I intent to
greatly improve the nutrition of the students in your school if granted the opportunity.
I promise to allocate a portion of the council funds on a very healthy eating program (for the year 2019-2021) in
your school.
The nutrition program will entail offering healthier food in the school cafeteria, preparation of a well-balanced diet
menu for the student that they will use throughout their study period, educate students about their bodies needs for
nutrients and then have a regular benchmarking on nutrition from diverse food and nutrition firms. The nutrition
program will also introduce students in growing a variety of crops in the school to help improve their nutrition
requirements.
Finally, I will financially support the nutrition program and organize for regular trainings of the school cateresses on
nutrition requirements for your students.

Introduction
Nutrition refers to the process by which an animal or plant obtains the most important nutrients
for the body. In addition, nutrition refers to the process of consuming food and specifically using
it for growth, repair and finally metabolism. It may also refer to the act of being nourished.
However, nutrition comes along with numerous benefits to people. Better nutrition can reduce
the risk of diseases the comprise of the heart diseases, cancer and diabetes. It can also lead to
improvement in the body’s ability to fight germs, improve body’s ability to recover from any
form of sickness. Better nutrition also lowers blood pressure, reduces cholesterol in the body and
increases the overall body energy. This document is mainly aimed at giving enough details
concerning the nutrition program plan for Melbourne school. This paper helps the school
principal come up with the required nutrition plan by the students in order to highly keep them in
good body conditions (Whitney & Rolfes, 2018).
Goals of the nutrition program
The main goal of this nutrition program is to highly train students so that they can first gain
knowledge on nutrition requirements for their body and then educate people on the most
appropriate food choices that will highly improve their health and keep them free from diseases.
Moreover, it will help the students get to easily apply principles of nutrition and prevent diseases
that arise as a result of improper nutrition.
The set objectives
1. The program should start a subject on nutrition for the students.

2. The health promotion officer(nutrition) will financially support all the required activities
in the school to aid come up with a school garden.

Objective 1. The program should start a subject on nutrition for the students

the morning. This will greatly help

This program will be of great
importance to the whole school
hence proteins in milk will always
keep on boosting student’s health.
However, the government pays milk

financial support will help all the
students for they will get milk without

The nutrition program stakeholders.
In this nutrition program, the stakeholders include; the ministry of women and child development,
ministry of wealth and family welfare, UNICEF and organization known as the Gates foundation. In
addition, we also have the world bank, the technical advisory group which is particularly for nutrition,
international universities, non-governmental organizations together with the Global alliances and then
finally the school management, parents, ministry of education, workers and the students at large (Terry-
McElrath, 2015,p.52-58).
Order of carrying out nutrition strategies
Program evaluation and implementation
Evaluation has numerous importance’s in this program in that it is used to show how school resources has
been used in the nutrition, to carry out judgment on the planning and the execution of nutrition programs,
collection of data and finally help the manager to evaluate nutrition activities in the school and finally
improve them greatly so that students can access all the nutrition programs that they require for their
bodies. In this juncture, evaluation should be carried in the school existing nutrition program and design it
properly. On the other hand implementation of this program involves stakeholders greatly. It calls for
total cooperation to enable the program to run smoothly. The following have to be followed.

3. Conducting a very detailed survey on the best nutrition practices that can highly improve
student’s health.
4. Establishing numerous branches of the existing nutrition centers in the country.
Ensuring proper nutrition to the teachers, workers and te parents through giving them
financial support so that they can meet family basic needs (Hoynes & Schanzenbach,
2015,p.219-301).
To reduce nutrition related diseases like obesity.
1. Coming up with the best nutrition guidelines for the school.
2. Helping the school caterers to come up with a well-organized list of balanced meals for the
students.
3. Advocating for healthy school canteens. This will help students purchase foods of various
nutrients and remain healthy as they pursue their studies.
4. Involvement of the society in the nutrition program.

diseases, students in schools should be highly educated about nutrition and nutrition studies
should be incorporated in schools to help students understand their bodies nutrition requirements.
Teachers should help the students come up with several agricultural projects in schools so that
students can plant different crops tat will provide students with the nutrients that they deserve in
their life. Finally, students should be properly fed and health promotion programs induced in
every school worldwide (Hoynes & Schanzenbach, 2015,p.219-301).
