HEALTH REFORMS
According to the “Health Disparities and Health Equity: The issue Is Justice”, the
health disparity is common among the socially backward or disadvantage groups of people or
community and it affects them adversely. However, such health disparities are avoidable. As
per the human rights and ethical principles, each human has the basic rights of enjoying
sustainable health benefits. Any prevalence of health disparity across different community
must always be treated as social injustice as the entire human must be valued equally and
have equal rights to avail optimized treatment and hygiene (Braveman et al., 2011). On the
other hand, “The Exodus of Public Health, What History Can Tell Us About the Future”
states that American Public Health Profession is now gradually transforming into mission of
social reforms with a touch of science based endeavor. Here the public health gives priority
towards the maintenance of proper hygiene, sanitization along with careful consideration of
the structural, industrial and intellectual forces that oppose radical reforms. The convergence
of both the articles is both gives priority in generating an advanced quality health setup.
While the divergence is, one gives preference to equal health rights to all the social groups
while the other gives preference in maintenance of proper hygiene and sanitization (Fairchild
et al., 2010).
After reading the two articles, I concluded that there exists a sharp difference in the
health rights among the people across the society. The rich people enjoy top-notch quality
health facilities and the poor or the downtrodden people are deprived from the basic health
rights. Another significant aspect, which came into my consideration after analyzing these
articles are, maintenance of proper sanitization will help to fight against several microbial or
contagious disease. The lack of proper sanitization among the poor makes them more
susceptible in developing such infectious disease and lack of unbiased health reforms make
situation worse (Fairchild et al., 2010; Braveman et al., 2011).
