Report
AI Summary
This report delves into the multifaceted factors that influence human health, focusing on how various internal and external elements can disrupt the body's systems and lead to illness. It begins by examining the body's control mechanisms for maintaining homeostasis, specifically addressing body temperature regulation, blood glucose levels, and the reflex action in response to injury, using flow charts to illustrate these processes. The report then discusses specific conditions such as mumps and cystic fibrosis, detailing their causes, symptoms, and potential complications. Furthermore, it explores the social issues that arise in situations involving an unvaccinated teenager with mumps, a child with cystic fibrosis, and a middle-aged alcoholic man, highlighting the challenges they face due to their conditions and societal perceptions. The report references various sources to support its findings and provide a comprehensive overview of the complex interplay between health factors, body systems, and social implications.

Write a short report that explains how the following factors can disrupt the body’s systems and
cause illness:
Mumps- Mumps is a contagious viral infection that are spread due to the bodily fluids
that leads to uncomfortable symptoms that includes the swelling of the salivary glands.,
body aches, fever and fatigue (Cancer Research UK 2018). People may develop serious
complications with the brain and the spinal cord. There is no treatment from mumps as

the only solution is to isolate from others to ensure that there is no contamination to
spread the disease.
Cystic Fibrosis- Cystic Fibrosis is a serious inherited disease that mainly affects pancreas
and the lungs that may also involve other organs. The symptoms of cystic fibrosis begin
in early childhood and include the continuous wheezing, coughing, the repeated chest
infections, and the extreme difficulty in the absorption of food and the general ill health
(Bbc.co.uk 2018). Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that can be passed from one
generation to the other like from the parents through the genes.
When people become ill, they sometimes have to contend with social issues that arise from
their illness, as well as the illnesses themselves. Write a report, describing the social issues that
arise in the following situations:
An unvaccinated teenager who develops mumps- There is resurgence in the hesitation,
opposition and uncertainty of disease that concerns the childhood vaccines. Sensible
public policy is understood to be consistent with the. It has been found that attitudes
about vaccination can differ from the actual behavior and there are orthogonal
constructs that will interplay uniquely depending on the contextual and the individual
factors (Bbc.co.uk 2018). For example, a mother may be provaccine towards certain
kinds of vaccines but not be provaccine towards the other kinds of vaccines. This may
lead the child to develop mumps due to the lack of health awareness.
A child with cystic fibrosis- It has been found that children in school experience
problems that are directly related to the collateral damage that may be borne by the

children due to lack of treatment. There are no signs or symptoms of the disease and
the feelings like isolation, rejection and stress. Due to the crisis periods of the disease,
children with cystic fibrosis tend to miss their school and cannot pass to the and
promoted to the next year due to the absence and therefore, they feel demotivated
towards studies (Nhs.uk 2018).
A middle aged alcoholic man Studies have shown that gender and alcohol
consumption interacts with each other and there is noticeable gender differences in
drinking. Alcohol consumption is related to ways of differentiating, symbolizing and
regularizing the gender roles. The differences in the normative drinking pattern reveal
that societies differentiate the gender roles by legitimizing drinking as a sign of
masculinity or by forbidding women to consume alcohol.
