INTRODUCTION
Health and social care standards are referred as the standards which are underpinned by
some principles including responsive care, compassion, be included, dignity and respect and
support and wellbeing. The professional standards are the competent care level in each phase of
the process of nursing. Professional standards are crucial as they help in promoting and directing
the clinical practice (Atkinson and Batterham, 2015). This report is based on the case study of
“direct referral from North Tyneside Living sheltered housing officers to Northumbria
Healthcare Emergency Care Practitioners and Admission Avoidance Resource Teams”. This
report covers different regulatory standards of Health and social care that underpin HSC
professional roles along with the professional disciplines. Apart from this, the capabilities and
skills needed by health and social care professionals along with relevant behavioural theories in
context of Health and social care professionals’ roles are also discussed in the report.
MAIN BODY
Health and social care standards that underpin HSC professional roles
The health and social care standards are referred as the standards which sets out to improve
the quality of care and ensure that service users will get effective quality of care. These standards
help in making the health care services better for each individual so that they treated with equal
dignity and respect which they are entitled to. These standards are developed by the government
to ensure that each individual gets the support and care which is right for them. The standards
seek to render better results for everyone. The main objective of developing health and social
care standards are to bring improvement, encourage innovation and promote flexibility in the
way people get support and care. For achieving high quality care, it is necessary for all the
support and service organisation to use the standards. There are five main standards in health and
social care system which dictates the roles of healthcare professionals. These standards are
provision of high quality care and support, involvement of patient in decision regarding their
care and support, person centered care, safety and security, gain confidence and trust of patient in
people and organisation who provide care and support (Chan, and et. al., 2016).
The healthcare standards are underpinned by 5 core principles including compassion, respect
and dignity, be included, support and wellbeing and responsive care. In order to ensure the
fulfillment of all the standards, healthcare professionals play very crucial role. It is very
