INTRODUCTION
Health surveillance is considered as a system health checks. These health checks are
required by laws which are developed for the employee who are exposed to various industrial
hazards that can harm their safety and security on the workplace. These health check or health
surveillance ca be used by the organization to maintain effective health care practices in the work
place to keep their employees safe from hazards (Kuklina and Goodman, 2018). This report is
providing brief of health impact that are caused by silica on the conveyor belts after rock
crushing. Various type of risks and hazards related in the workplace will be explained in the
report. Different health surveillance that can be used in the organization workplace will be
explained in the report. The framework of health surveillance system will be presented in the
report along with various processes that can be used to implement these health surveillance
measure systems in organization. A time line will be provided in the report that can help the
organization to execute with in the work place.
Identification of Hazards that May Occur in the work place
There are different hazards can occur on the work place that ca harm the employees who
are exposed to these hazards on the work place. There are various challenges can occur due to
the exposure to the silica dust that can affect the health and respiratory system of people. This is
major problem that is faced people are related to the medical issues. Some of the major
challenges that are faced by the people are- acute health impact, chronic health effect, cancer
health hazard, reproductive Hazard and long term goals. These goals can affect the health
stability of people. The main health issues that are caused by the Silica dust.
Acute Health Impact
There are different short term health impact on people who come to the exposure to the
silica Dust. These effects can be visible after the exposure to the silica duct in the organization.
The acute health effect is more critical when people come to frequent exposure to the Silica dust.
This continuous exposure can lead to serious lung disease which is known as Silicosis with
severe cough, shortness of breath. All these effects can be visible on the chest x ray (Concannon,
Herbst and Manley, 2019). This is serious disease that can affect the people who came direct
contact with silica dust in company work shop. Silicosis is known as occupational lung disease

which is caused by inhalation of crystallization of silica dust in the lungs of the people came to
direct exposure to the silica dust in work place. Some it can be misdiagnosed as tuberculosis or
pulmonary edema. This disease can take life of thousand people around the world.
Chronic Health Effect
Some of the impact of the chronic impact can occur after the exposure of silica duct. This
effect can be last for months and years. Once a person comes to the contact of silica dust present
in the air in factories and workshops can face these problem later in life. This can lead to many
problems like coughing, shortness of breath and pain in chest. This pain and shortness of breath
could be last for months and years. This can cause permanent damage to the lungs of people.
This is how there are many negative impact of Silica Dust to the people who came in contact
with the silica dust in factories of organization.
Cancer Health Hazard
This is one of the most severe impact of the exposure of the silica dust. In some of cases
the silica dust can act as carcinogens that can start the uncontrolled cell division in particular part
of body which is known as cancer (Patterson, Jabson and Bowen, 2017). This is one of the most
critical impact of silica dust on the people who came to the exposure to the silica dust in factories
that are working on processing products that produce Silica dust in production process. This is
how the continuous exposure to the silica dust. It is how silica dust can affect the people more
severely.
Long Term Goals
There are many long term impact of exposure to the silica dust. These long term impact
on people can cause different type of disability to people who were in contact and exposure to
the silica dust. These exposure can lead to different severe disease to the employees which are
known as silicosis. For the short term exposure silicosis can lead to severe lungs problems and
long term exposure to the silica dust can lead to serious case of silicosis that can lead to death.
This is how in some severe cases this can lead to more trouble to people. There are different
cases are there that can increases the chances of tuberculosis.
