Essay on Raising Healthy Kids_2

HEALTH TARGET1.1 SummaryRaising healthy kids is one of the health targets of the New Zealand government. Many initiatives have been put forth in order to achieve this. The main health risk for both adults and younger people is obesity. An example of initiatives aimed at reducing or eliminating cases of obesity in children is the active families programme. Children found to be obese or are at risk of being obese, are signed up for this programme. The kid learns about healthy diet and gets to participate in physical activities. My recommendations on other initiatives that could greatly contribute to reducing obesity include; systems to promote easier access to healthier foods, techniques to encourage communities to arrange for activities that bring about change, government should enhance infrastructure that supports walking, communities should be encouraged to purchase foods directly from the farms and communities need to improve on putting up more supermarkets in the rural areas as well.
