Transport option Discount/concession and process of
assessing them
Self-powered This service provides people with disability
with the right to travel freely on the roads and
make the roads and transport system
convenient for them. Further, it provides them
with the complete details of the routes so that
safety could be reinforced. To assess them, the
person with disability benefit card or travel and
transport card for disabled person so that they
can utilize the benefits provided to them
through concession (TransportNSW 2019).
Car Local government has increased the number of
cars for people with disability so that pooling
of car could be increased. Further, the
government has implemented several schemes
such as taxi users subsidy scheme, ambulance
fee, parking permits, Australian disability
parking scheme and electricity subsidy scheme
so that people traveling through private or pool
cars could be provided with maximum benefits
and security on roads. Further, to avail the
benefit, the person should possess a disability
identification card from the local government
so that these schemes could be used for
transportation related benefits of the person
(TransportNSW 2019).
Taxi Public taxis and cabs are one of the most
important travelling aid available in the state of
New south wales and hence, disability benefit
schemes has been implemented in the state
extensively. The government has provided
schemes such as subsidy for taxi users, subsidy
in fare of such taxis and no refusal schemes so
that discrimination, disparity could be
prevented on the roads for the benefit of the
person with disability. Further, all the taxi
drivers are asked to attend training sessions so
that while serving for such passengers they
could help them with their support to ease the
travel for the person. to avail these facilities,

the person should have a companion card,
disability identification card, disability
concession card and so on.
Provider bus This transport is one of the most convenient
and easy way of transport for the people with
disability due to its easier facilities, availability
and provides a timely service to the
passengers. Hence, to increase the usage of
public transport for the people with disability,
the government has provided several sessions
and schemes so that disabled people can use
these transport facilities freely. Disabled
concession cards, disabled identification cards
and are required to avail these services
(TransportNSW 2019).
Public transport Other public transports such as water boats,
water buses, cabs, metro, and others provide
easy and cheaper transport facilities to the
people disability. to access this, the person
should have disability identification and
transport and travel concession cards
Wheelchair facility This facility will help people with disability to
understand the route maps of the state and
travel freely without any risk of security. to
avail such transport concessions, the disabled
person should provide concession cards
(TransportNSW 2019).

Project 2: Community integration plan
Introduction
Strengthening in inclusion process of people with physical or mental disability,
retardation, as well as functional and developmental disability is an important and ongoing
process so that different people with different abilities could be brought together for a
progressive society. It is the duty of the government and the society to include such people so
that their self-esteemed, their confidence and their individuality could be reinforced and they
could be provided with equal treatment within the society. In this section, case study of a young
adult Phillip has been discussed who is suffering from acquired brain injury due to a past
accident. Further, he is affected with moderate disability and has faced the phase of social
isolation while receiving care in the healthcare facility. However, he is keen to take part in the
community and its activities again and hence, a community inclusion plan for Phillip should be
produced so that all the barriers present in the path of his inclusion within the community could
be removed and despite of disability, he could become an important part of the society.
Strategies to include Phillip in the community
The strategies which could be used within the community integration plan to include
Phillip within the community will revolve around the following sections:
Including Phillip and his family in the integration plan so that they can actively
take part in the planning process and provide their feedback to it.
Using a strength based approach, where the strengths of Phillip and his
personality will be used include him in the community and related actions
