Executive Summary
Quit Victoria is a non-hospital based healthcare services that provides help to reduce the use of
tobacco or tobacco addiction among the Australian population. The analysis of the
organizational facilities and services helped to understand that the Quit Victoria delivers a
comprehensive yet tailored service for reduction of the smoking intoxication. The service is
directed among the mass. Quit Victoria also follows the necessary risk management steps and
quality improvement guidelines stated by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in
Health Care under National Safety and Quality Health Servicein order to improve the overall
service quality. The non-hospital based service provided by this organization also abides by the
ethical principal of privacy, confidentially, beneficence and non-malfeasance in order to improve
the overall service quality.

Introduction
According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) (2017), tobacco
smoking is regarded as single most preventable cause of ill-health and increased number of
mortality and morbidity in Australia. Tobacco smoke contains 7000 chemicals that increase the
vulnerability of developing cancer. Nearly 12% people, who are aged 14 years or older, smokes
cigarette daily. However, this percentage has reduced from 24% as recorded in the year 1991.
The percentage of smoking among the pregnant women has also reduced in 2017 (10%) from
the percentage recorded in 2009 (15%). The lowest age in which the individual who have
smoked cigarette have increased to 16.3 years in 2017 in comparison to the 14.2 year in the
year 2001. This improvement in the smoking statistics is attributed to the health promotion and
awareness made by the government of Australia and at the same time initiatives by the non
hospital based services by the publicly or privately funded organization. The following
assignment will focus on the role played by Quit Victoria in reducing the tobacco use in the
Australia. This will be followed by the ethical consideration, risk management and quality
improvement associated with the overall operation of that organization.
Description
Need
Quit Victoria began in the year 1985. It aims to decrease the health, social and financial
inequalities arising out of smoking. It is a non hospital based clinic that specializes in the
effective treatment of tobacco addiction. This is one of the oldest organizations in Australia that
provides support for smoking cessation. It is brimmed with a team of skilled and experienced
professionals and professionals that extend support to the individuals who are struggling to quit
smoking. The program mainly focuses on the effective yet accessible treatment that is designed
to suit the lifestyle of every individual. In this organization, confidentiality and privacy of the client
is strictly followed. This program thus helps to reduce the smoking habits among the mass by
implementing non-hospital based non-pharmacological interventions.
