The Healthy People 2010/2020 Process
The Healthy People 2010/2020 is a blueprint, which offers a detailed, strategic
framework for enhancing health, as well as preventing illness in the United States (US) with
science-oriented, ten-year national objects for 42 distinctive theme areas. The Healthy People
2020 is a multiyear course which mirrors input from different people along with organizations in
the improvement of the Healthy People 2010 that was designed to promote health of the people
by changing the national objectives in a formula of 10-year period as the tradition because of the
changing health needs of the citizens (Fielding, Kumanyika & Manderscheid, 2013).
The Purpose of the Healthy People
The purpose of national health plan or Healthy People is to provide science-oriented, ten-
year nationwide goals to support, as well as harmonize many endeavors, at federal in addition to
other levels in improving the wellbeing and health of the US citizens. It is tailored to monitor and
manage the progress and measures of the national health plan to impact prevention actions in
motivating, directing, and focusing these actions and national research planning, as well as
policy endeavors. In addition, the national health plan establishes broad objectives to move the
nation toward better health by tracking and using health data to promote the health of the citizens
hence the quality of life (Krisberg, 2017).
