Healthy People 2020 is a ten years program that is initiated for improvement of the
National Health launched on December 2, 2010. It is a multiyear procedure that vividly
reflected on the information obtained from different groups of people and organizations
(Healthypeople.gov, 2020). The vision of the program is to develop a society for all so that
they can have a healthy and longer lifespan.

The four overarching goals are
To attain high-quality and extended lifespan of people free from disease, disability,
premature death or injury
Creating a social and physical atmosphere for promoting health
To achieve health equity and elimination of disparities among all groups
To improve the quality of life across all stages of life

The first goal state that it is intended to offer better healthcare services to all that will
help in leading a healthy and better life. The second goal involves the creation of a
multidimensional environment that will support physical and social wellbeing. The third goal
is to accomplish health equity that involves the equal allocation of resources and avoiding
any discriminatory behavior or bias among any groups of people residing in the world
(Healthypeople.gov, 2020). The fourth goal is to enhance the quality of life at all the stages of
life irrespective of age. Thus, focusing on health is the major motto of the program.
