This experiment analyzes the effects of parallel and counter flow on heat exchanger performance, as well as the effects of flow rate. The objective is to build a performance evaluation criteria for heat exchangers and present an energy balance and overall coefficient of heat transfer for shell and tube exchangers. The report includes measurements of overall heat transfer coefficient, efficiency, heat loss, mass flow, and temperature differences. The results are related to the effects of cold water flow rate and overall efficiency of designs in terms of graphs.
