• Hepatitis B is a virus based
disease that is considered to be
possible life threatening if left
untreated.
• It is an infectious disease
caused by the hepatitis B virus
also known as HBV that affects
the liver by causing acute or
chronic infections.

• Hepatitis B spreads through
contact with blood, semen
and other body fluids of an
infected person.
• Exchange of body fluids with
an infected person.
• This can happen from sharing
food, sharing needles, coming
in contact with an open
wound and also having sexual
intercopurse (Who, 2019).

• During the first phase of infection the
symptoms are quite general and hence
go unnoticed.
• There is fever and the stools passed
are light in colour.
