INTRODUCTION
Tourism is the newly developed sector in the market and has increasing demand. But
people used to travel or choose tourism sector in order to visit the heritage and cultural
management. It plays a major role in tourism activities. Cultural and heritages are those sites
which have natural and traditional beauty and this influence more people to visit the places. It
demonstrates different places and old cultural aspects of that place. This may include famous
places, heritage attraction, world famous festivals and lot more. Mostly tourist prefer the famous
heritage sites for the visit this can include monuments, beaches, parks, old structure and many
more (Abankina, 2013). Due to this the economic growth and culture development has hiked up.
Thus for increasing this business there is need of implementing new strategies and plans.
Throughout this report you will gain knowledge about the heritage and culture, different
organization included in it for the management purpose. Also we will focus on the various
ownership related to the tourism. Continuing the report will guide in depth about the growth and
development of this industry. Potential conflicts within the industry should be solved in order to
improve this market sector. The report is based on the tourism in Lhasa, Tibet. Also, British and
natural history museum and its role in influencing the visitors. Moreover, the role of different

Potential conflicts in conservation of heritage and cultural resources in Lhasa

. For any country to show their tradition and past in actual, there is need to preserve the
cultural and heritage sites. Due to this fact there is great need and demand to preserve and
develop this developing business sector. Also, tourist is attracted to those places which are well
maintained and those whose care is taken. For this purpose, preservation and conservation of
this sites are very necessary. Preservation from different things like environment, corrosion,
people and many more things. Preserving this thing will help our future generation to visit those
places and enjoy there. The need of preservation has also developed conflicts between different
organization and different individuals people to develop and modernize the places. Some
believe this will reduce the cultural significance of the site. In terms of Lhasa, the protection
and management is done with the consideration of three components (Ashworth and Lark ham,
2013). They keep the record and maintain the reconstruction of the places. These are protected
by the Law on the Protection of Cultural Relies of the People's Republic of China, World
heritage steering Committee and State Administration of Cultural Heritage. Mainly they are
taking care of most of the famous location in the Lhasa. Being rich in cultural diversities and
monumental structure, the tourism can be increased by focusing on the development and
reestablishment of this places. Government, local and private authorities are contributing in
making the efforts for the development of this places. Different researches, plans and strategies
are made in order to implement new methods that is economical for the country. The conflicts
between the people has included government of both the countries that is China and Tibet.
Lobbyist is one of such committee and act as third party. It also took decision related to the
preservation and is in favor and is concerned about the development of heritage and cultural
sites. Many of this development is under the Tibetan government and they are taking robust
methods to development and reduce the conflicts between the people. This make government to
took special decision for the renovation of the Barkhor town and Jokhang temple. But again the
conflict rise between the local people that this renovation will affect the heritage value of the

Potala palace and Norbulingka are also being mentioned as the State Priority Protected
Sites. Protection of this sites is done through Law on the Protection of Cultural Relies of the
People's Republic of China. Also Potala Palace was mentioned as the world heritage site and is
included in the world heritage list in the year 1994 (Bremner, 2013). The restoration and any
development is under the Cultural heritage administration ad strict laws are made in order to
protect the places. Also management regulations are adopted in order to take measure related to
the visitor management. For the conservation, maintenance and management the World heritage
property has been formulated and the necessary decision will be taken soon.
The Barkhor town was the most remarked places and has been common place for the conflicts.
Human rights are being violated if there is construction or renovation is done to the market. Not
only this there are many environment damages which can be faced in the tourism is increased.
As more the tourist will come more they will harm the natural beauty and the heritage site.
There will be greater impact on the nature and more possibilities of harm. The development of
tourism will also support the infrastructural development near those places which will affect the
natural beauty of that place. Due to earn profit from such market people are not focusing on the
development required for these heritage and cultural sites. This has contributed in many ways to
the country like increasing the revenue collection, GDP rates and employment ratio. So many of
them are focusing them making revenues and earning profit form such places. Being knowing
that this cultural and heritage sites are getting damage and need renovation or reconstruction
they are focusing on the profit making; even they are harming the nature and making the
infrastructural development (Carrier and Macleod, 2012).
Thus, government needs to take better decision with the support of local people and other
authorities to resolve such issues and focus on the development and renovation needed by such
sites. Local people can contribute more and can support for the reconstruction of the Heritage
sites. Also different communities and authorities should take initiatives to take decision related
to such development. Focusing together can help to achieve better tourism and will improve
the sector and the cultural and heritage sites. This will also help to maintain this structure for
the longer period and unaffected from the climate and other damages.

2.1 Assess the purpose of heritage and cultural attractions in meeting the needs of different
customers
All the customers and tourists have different purpose while visiting these two awesome
creation in UK. Purpose of customers while visiting British museum is to get inquired about the
heritage and tourist visits their just to gather information about the local culture. Both of them
have different motive for visit (Collison and Spears, 2010).
While visit at The royal academy of arts, the clear aim is just to get knowledge about
ancient art of Britain. The purpose of customers is just to hanging out and chilling but tourist

3.1 Impact of ownership styles in managing Heritage and culture
There are various types of ownership which
are exercised to manage various areas of
heritage and cultural areas. The major
identified types of ownership styles are
Private, Public and mixed style of both
(Chhabra, 2010). These styles of ownerships
have their own methods for managing the
activities of said sector which can be
understood individually in further parts:
Private ownership: The heritage and cultural
sites which are mainly governed through
private ownerships are identified as different art
galleries, museums and various heritage sites.
The private firms who use to own and control
these sites have the major objective of earning
substantial amount of wealth through it. In this
condition all types of decision making power to
own and control, making alterations or other
similar judgements are taken solely by the
private owners. They use to charge a certain
amount of money from the tourists and
travellers who come to visit these places (Park,
2013). The money collected from this source is
used for various purposes by the private
companies. They also make renovations,
cleanliness and other maintenance work from
this money. As a result, they have more number
of visitors as they can have the visit of better
and maintained place. Thus, these firms are

sites. Further, in present scenario, it is
commonly seen that such firms are turning such
places into commercial buildings for generating

4.1 Methods and Media used for interpretation with in heritage and cultural industry for tourist
The interpretation of using media will help the country to develop the heritage and
cultural tourism industry for the development of economy. There are different methods and
approaches which can be used the government of country. The government has more
responsibility in order to promote the heritage culture of the country. For example, British
Museum has applied the different methods for conducting and upholding the various historic
events. Some methods like drama, labels, sign etc. these methods will help the potential visitors
to get the overall ideas about the heritage sites. In this museum people are coming from different
place to increase the knowledge about the heritage and cultural tourism for the country. The
industry can also take the help of media for publishing different materials which are holding the
various prospectus of pros and cons about the heritage sites. There are some methods which are
used by the heritage and culture industry and on the basis of that they will interpret the
information and these are described as below (Reid and Botanic, 2010).
Maps, books and broacher – When the visitors are coming to the heritage place then
books are provided to them. The books and broacher provide the concise information about the
heritage or museum place. Along with this the map will help them to plan according to the places
on which they have interest.
Guide – It is the responsibility of museum to provide proper guide to visitors in every
section. So that the visitors can increase their knowledge regarding the heritage place. As this is
the most effective method which are using by the heritage industry because in this they put the

economy by increasing the GDP, employment rate, trade and many other business sectors. Large
number of people can be attracted for the tourism in order to view the famous and eye catching
sites and places. Also government and other authorities should maintain and try to focus on the
renovation of cultural and the heritage sites. The report has described about the beautiful place in
Tibet that is Lhasa. There are many heritage sites and monuments which can be visited in Lhasa.
There are many steps taken by different society and government to protect the cultural and
heritage sites there. Local people can contribute more in protection of this sites. Along with it,
brief about British museum and Royal academy of arts which constitute different arts and is
playing main role in protecting those art and history. Media and other innovates can be used to
attract more tourism. Apart from this, Museums which is place for the studying and collecting
information related to the heritage and cultural places. Mostly scholars and researcher visit there.
