1.2 Potential conflicts in conservation of heritage and cultural resourcesIt is essential for each and every government to use their heritage and cultural sites to increasetheir number of visitors in the country. Tibbet is a country which is situated at the highest pointof this world. It is popular for their culture of Buddhism and most of monk try to visit this placeat-least one time in their lifetime. This nation is rich in terms of religion and temple. Accordingto a data, 10 million tourist visit various part of this country every year. The reason of visit maydiffer but they always get right amount of satisfaction. China, one of their neighbour nation, analysed potential of Tibbet and they took an important decision that they will invest $4.8billion dollars approximately in upcoming time. Jokahng temple is situated in Lhasa, the captialof Tibbet. Chinese government is claiming that they own some part of this country so no onecan stop them in implementation of their project (Raj and Griffin, 2015). They understand thatthey can earn high revenue from rich heritage and culture of Tibbet, they started a programmewhere they were giving luxury facilities to the people who visit Jokhang temple. They made adeal with Inter Continental Hotel Group, they gave them permission to make a big hotel andcharged huge amount against this approval. 'Resort Lhasa Paradise' is the another project startedby Chinese government, they are planning to make a hotel with a capacity of 1100 rooms.Although this investment will play crucial role in development of this heritage site but alsobring following types of conflicts:Green field sites vs Brown field sites – Tibbet is popular for their greenery and naturalattraction. If these hotels will convert large amount of green land into a building than thislocation will loss their main entity. Some people are in favour of construction of these hotelsbecause they give priority to facility (Petroman, 2013). According to them, this region do nothave basic amenities like toilets, drinking water etc. But on the other hand some people arecriticising this move, they think that this place is known for its natural attraction, not forskyscrapers. If someone want to to see buildings than they can go to New york or Dubai. Concerns of locals – People who are involved in this project do not listen to problems of localswho basically own this land. This issue is generating conflict in both sides because they dovarious kind of protest against this huge investment. They are concerned about various issueslike pollution, damage of natural resources etc. Immediate presentation to visitors – Jokhang temple is known for Buddhist religion and it isconsidered as one of the oldest temple. People who visit this place do not get what they were2
