Thanks for sharing this insightful post with us, I certainly agree to two points that you covered in
your post. First, a portfolio management office can be developed ahead of the conventional
project management offices and second big data can be utilized to induce the exercise of
portfolio management.
Both these practices have their origin in the previous set of management practices. In the past,
the companies were keen to develop a tacit knowledge pool to increase their core competencies
by adding new portfolios (Stettina, 2018). Here I would like to add that differentiation between
portfolio management and diversification should be in place. The exercise of portfolio
enhancement demands the integration of new practices or processes into the existing
mechanisms. It should not be above the line or below the life; the outcomes of the portfolio
management should fall “on the mainline of action.
