Problem Definition (UK)•46,000 empty shops in 2013 (Turner-Mitchell 2012)•On line retail accounts for 12.7% of shopping•Due to increase to 21.5% by 2018 (Barnfield, Westbrook 2013)•Factors:–Technology–Recession–Out of town shopping centres–Looking for convenience and value•Result = change in shopping behaviour•High Streets are therefore suffering from:–Decreased footfall,–Decreased frequency of visit–Decrease in the time spent on the high street•BUT there are some signs of revival
