PROBLEM STATEMENT
I beam, also called H beams are one of the most important beams used to
support heavy loads. These beams are H shaped. This assignment aims at
designing an I beam that is expressed to some loading as shown below.
APPROACH
First, the reaction forces were calculated. Shear force and moment diagram
were then drawn and maximum shear and bending moment were read.
Stress calculation was done and I sections were selected tentatively from
tables of standard I beams.
A similar model was generated on MDsolids. A standard I structural steel was
chosen and material set to S275. Values were read at key points using a
probe.
A 3d model of I section and material S275 was modeled o Solidworks 2019.
ANALYSIS 1
We assumed that the beam is weightless. Area method for drawing shear
moment diagram was used.
