Introduction
The major responsibility of the manager of the organization is to manage the human resources. In
order to effectively managing the other the one need to manage itself. Managing itself can be
understood as an in-depth understanding of self-controlling and monitor the other. In rapidly
growing business environment there is a rapid change in the market, working environments,
competitors and the organizational expectations. The individual hardly finds time to evaluate
itself by understanding its strength and weaknesses, knowing potentials, the impact of their
behaviour on organizational outcomes and examining the interpersonal relationship. The self-
managing will help in making a great difference between the outstanding manager and an
adequate manger. Enhancing competencies and abilities will help an individual in preparing
oneself to perform their job role effectively and on next level of responsibility. The reports focus
on management of managing self and others. In order to understand the importance of managing
needs for self and other the case study of Tesco is chosen.

The reward must be given on the basis of comparison with one another in the same
company or ion other competitive organization.
It should be failed and equitable given.
The Tesco Company paid the employees according to the traditional method that leads to
conflicts in the organization. So, the manager of the company should change the paying system.
The employees should pay according to their position they hold with the contribution they made.
The company needs to build up different approaches to pay the workers by designing different
pay plans and employees design teams.
Flexibility in the organization motivates the employees to accomplish organizational goals and
objectives. In the flexible environment, employees hold to be permitted to control their own
work hours for this the company needs to maintain compressed worksheet that allows doing a
full-time job in standard 40 hours that means five days workweek. Telecommunication is another
option that establishes a flexible environment. It is the process of arranging the work and
scheduling the work from work hours which provide the option of work from home or outside
the office (DeMers, 2016).
These methods and approaches to motivating the employees are both having a positive impact as
well as negative impact. Such as work from employees feel isolated from their friends and
families and do not able to complete the work with full dedication due to a family disturbance. In
addition to this, there is lack of visibility that will lead to loss of promotions.

LO 3: Critically discuss techniques employed to manage, promote and enhance
individual and team performance. You should include discussion on both
developmental and performance management approaches along with an analysis of
the effectiveness of each.
Empowering the employees can be done through giving encouragement, authority, trust and
autonomy to accomplish the organizational task. Empowerment can be generated through
delegating responsibilities to the individual. As there are many conflicts that occur in Tesco
Company due to communication gaps. So, the manager needs to adapt to promote corporate
entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship encourages the employees to adopt new ideas and knowledge
and gives authorise to implement their ideas in the organization. This will make a friendly
environment in the organization (Huhman, 2014). The techniques that the Tesco Company needs
