SECTION A
Question 1 discuss globalization, homogenization and heterogenization in relation of food and
drink consumption
Globalization is a process to trade at international level by businesses. It has provided a
platform for companies to expand in different markets and provide products and services to
people (Lawrence and Almas, 2018). For example, IKEA has opened stores in different
countries. They have entered in Indian market and opened their first store in Hyderabad (Evrard,
2017).
Homogenization is a process of mixing of two or more than two non soluble liquid into
an emulsion. Generally, it is used in separating cream from milk and other drinking food items.
For example- Starbucks provide similar type of coffee all around the world. Also, Pizza Hut
offers similar types of Pizza in different countries (Yap and et.al., 2015).
Heterogenization is adoption of different cultural elements at global level. it includes
local culture which are able to expand at global level. for example, Indian culture is expanded at
global level. For example- Non American culture affecting west including music and TV shows
(Ding and et.al., 2015)
In economic growth of world, culture has become a key driver of change. It is playing a
vital role in bringing people close to each other. Also, diversity is countries has increased. The
evolution of all these three factors has played a significant role in expansion of local culture at
global level. it has allowed people to know about each country local culture and what role it
plays in improving their social life (Pieterse, 2018). It can be analyzed that globalization has
allowed companies to identify and use different type of homogenization process. due to this,
businesses are able to adopt local culture in developing products. this has led to exposure of local
heterogenization process at large level. however, it has also benefited in mixing of different
cultural elements. Now, people are able to get healthy and pure dairy products. Along with it,
globalization has enabled in integration of local culture with businesses. This is the reason why
beverage companies are engaging more in local markets to identify how change is been adopted.
It has been identified that homogenization and Heterogenization are different concepts
but are connected with each other. The rural people are having their own way of mixing soluble
liquids. They use traditional method to get natural drinks. So, giving local culture an identity at

global level is done with help of globalization. It has provided a clear picture of how fast food
are related to local culture. Furthermore, on what grounds food and culture are been adopted by
people. It has transformed entire food industry and provided a platform for them to inherit
culture and learn social and local values. It is stated that more people consume and interact with
same brand culture, they start feeling connected to it. this create a sense of global community and
reducing cultural diversities (Giulianotti, 2017). People are able to identify culture by engaging
in events. The multicultural society is developed where region culture is widely disseminated.
In relation to food and drink consumption and culture identity, the process of
homogenization is exchanged between different countries. for example, in India there is different
process followed but US have adopted Indian process. it is because this has made it easy for US
to mix two soluble liquids. The Indian process is unique and natural. This gives benefit in
providing natural cream from milk. In this global trends are emerging in ethnicity and designing
of new products. now companies are including two local culture food to make a new one. They
have defined specific needs of people drink and offered drinks accordingly. It has also allowed
business to maintain standards in Homogenization process. it has resulted in maintaining quality
and natural ingredients. In addition, by using of different process it been easy for company to
learn ethics and value followed in local culture. For example, Amul Indian company has initiated
a program in which they executed local process of Homogenization. With help of this, they
develop dairy food products. also, company took this process at global level. other business was
also inspired by them. they started taking into consideration by engaging in local culture to find a
unique process.
An example can be taken of Coca Cola is able to enter in different countries with
homogenization process. it has allowed them to use their formula in mixing two soluble and
making one product from it. also, it has enabled in making healthy drinks.
Another example is McDonald’s who has successfully expanded in different countries by
developing goods as per culture of country. for instance, in India they offer products such as
McAloo tikki, Paneer burger, etc.
