Hospitality industry is a wide group of businesses within the service industry which
includes facilities of lodging, travelling, transportation, event planning and various services
within the tourism industry to provide customer satisfaction at a greater extent(). Industries
should develop various strategies which assist them to achieve high business success. The report
is based on Zoopy juice cafe (Jayawardena and et. al., 2013). It is a London based firm which
specialises in salads, juices and smoothies. The present assignment is based on analysing
principles for handling and managing financial performance as well as discusses how this
principles are applied in double entry book keeping system. Various functional roles and
communication methods within the hospitality industry are discussed under the report. Along
with this there are some issues in talent acquisition and legislations which are also discussed
under the report.
TASK 1
Zoopy juice cafe is a new cafe launched in Bishops gate, London. It specialises in fresh
juices, salads to its customers. Variety of juices and healthy salads will be provided so as to
attract customers. Besides this manager of cafe is trying to grab all the available opportunities
and targets maximum market share.
1.1 Introduction to the financial transactions by identifying types of source document and
recording processes of concerned business
Financial transaction is an agreement or communication between buyer and seller
regarding the exchange of an asset or the payment. It involves changing the status of finance
between two or more businesses or individuals. There are various kind of source documents
which assist the firm in determining their financial transactions.
Source documents – It is a original record which contains the details of every transaction
that occurred during the accounting period. They provide evidences to the financial transactions
when are reviewed by the auditors. Various types of source documents includes memos, cheques
deposit slips, bank statement etc. It includes date when transaction is done and also specifies the
amount of transaction.
Recording process- Recording process of Zoopy juice cafe records all the financial
transaction undertaken during the accounting year, Recording process will include documents
such as general ledger, trial balance.

1.2 Principles of double entry bookkeeping system of debits and credits
Double Entry Book Keeping system- It is an accounting system in which transaction in
every business are recorded in minimum two accounts. It has two equal corresponding sides
debit and credit and recognises the dual nature of every transaction. Zoopy juice Cafe firm
should maintain this system to determine the profitability of the business along with the expenses
incurred. It ensures that financial value added to the debit side is equal to the amount specified in
credit side (Kysilka and Csaba, 2013).
Principles of double entry book keeping system are as follows-
Under this book keeping system there are two entries for every transaction, one is the
credit entry and other is the debit entry.
This ensures one person is the receiver and other is the giver and the value added to the
debit side should be equal to the credit side.

Accounting Report- These are the financial results or the periodic statement which
shows financial position of the company over a specified time period. There is a need for
accounting report at Zoopy juice cafe which the managers of the company to analyse overall
financial performance of the firm determining the profit and expenses incurred.
Trail Balance- It is a book keeping report which balances all the ledger accounts and are
compiled into debit and credit columns, under which both the columns have equal balance. It is
prepared at the end of accounting period. Zoopy juice cafe should make trial balance to
understand their credibility and also ascertains financial position of the company at the year end
(Wushe, Shenje and Ndlovu, 2014).

1.4 Analyse types of cost and how they can be managed to influence financial performance of
business
There are various cost incurred by the firm while managing and running their business.
Cost is defined as a monetary evaluation that has been used to produce something or to deliver
service. Their are various costs which the Zoopy juice cafe has to incurred while providing the
service are as follows-
Fixed Cost- These are the fixed expenses incurred by the company and is independent of
any of the business activity. It doesn't increase or decrease with number of goods or
services produced or sold. In context to Zoopy juice cafe rent of the place, insurance and
depreciation are its fixed costs.
Variable cost- Variable cost is an expense to the firm which changes in proportion to the
production output and increase and decrease according to the production volume of the
firm. For Zoopy Cafe it includes cost for providing juices and salads as well as marketing
and promotional efforts.
Semi-variable costs- These are the expenses to the firm which are partially fixed and
partially variable. In context to Zoopy cafe it includes expenses of staff and the rent of
the place.
These are the various cost incurred by the Zoopy juice Cafe which allows their business to run
effectively. Manager of this cafe should identify ways to cut some of its cost and adopt effective
strategies to make its business more profitable. It is the responsibility of the manager to cut down
and manage its variable cost effectively to achieve business success.
1.5.Evaluation of the importance of accurate recording of the transactions with accepted
accounting principles
There is importance of accurate recording of every transaction in Zoopy cafe so as to
maintain authentic data and also allows the manager to take appropriate results.
Accounting principles- These are the rules and regulations and the guidelines that the company
must follow while reporting financial data. For appropriate recording of every transaction it is
necessary for the company to use accounting principles which are as follows-

Cost Principle- It is an accounting principle which can be used by the companies to
record the value of its assets at their original price of purchase. This principle is useful for Zoopy
Cafe as it provides appropriate information about assets and liabilities associated with the firm
which assist in proper management of funds. It has a major benefit with the company as it helps
manager in analysing in tax liability and creates transparency of the business(Legrand and et. al.,
2012).
Accrual Principle- This accounting principle states that firm should record their
accounting transactions in the period in which they have occur rather than the period in which
cash flows related to them occur. It is essential for Zoopy cafe to record each and every
transactions in an an appropriate manner which assist in proper planning and forecasting and
reduces the financial errors within the business.
1.6 Critically evaluate role of financial management and monitoring in achieving positive growth
in business with some recommendations.
Financial Management is the process concerned with planning, organising, controlling
and monitoring all the financial resources associated with the firm to attain its goals and targets.
It leads to effective allocation and utilisation of funds, thereby improving the operational
efficiency of the business. It helps Zoopy cafe managers to take effective and sound financial
decisions. Moreover resources will be properly used by Zoopy cafe which helps in earning high
revenues. When company earns high revenues, there is a high growth for the business which
allows the firm to sustain in market for a longer time period. Proper monitoring of activities
assist transparency in the business activities and reduces the exposure of risk as well make the
firm realise its liabilities towards the company (Ivasciuc and Epuran, 2015). It is recommended
to the managers of Zoopy juice cafe to analyse and monitor every financial management
activities to achieve positive growth in the business and allow the company to pay and recover
all its dues and avoids rsik exposure to the business.

effectively. There are issues faced by Zoopy Cafe in hiring and retaining employees which is
discussed as follows-
Fast changing pace within the industry- Changes takes place very fast within the food
and beverage industry as customers are high demanding and their preferences changes for every
food items. Because of the recent technology and innovation, this requires the firm to hire skilled
employees. This is the issue ffe provides low salary it becomes problem for them to attract the
skilled employees.
2.2 .Relate factors to a specific hospitality job in food & beverage industry
HR manager at Zoopy juice cafe wants to hire HR executive for the company, but there
are some issues faced by the company in talent acquisition and retaining of employees. This is
due to the factors like fast changing pace within the industry and because of the salary
dissatisfaction it makes problem for the manager to attract and retain talent within the
organisation. As there is fast changing pace in food and beverage industry customer demand
new dish items. This creates a negative role on the job of HR executive and this creates problem
during the hiring and retention of employee (Nayak and Taylor, 2018).
2.3 Identification of specific legislations that hospitality organisations has to comply. How it
reflect on employment contract and its impact on decision making
In order to perform business activities properly Zoopy juice cafe should comply with
specific laws and regulations to effectively operate. These laws will assist in business growth and
makes a harmonious work place environment. In context to Zoopy juice cafe there are some
legislations which needs to be followed are as follows-
Workplace health and safety act 2011- This act ensures that business firms should
maintain health and safety of employees at work place. It ensures that appropriate training should
be provided to the employees regarding the usage of proper machineries and equipments at the
workplace which motivates the employees to work effectively. Thus it is the duty of Zoopy juice
cafe to maintain health and safety of the employees at the work place which assist them to retain
in the firm for a longer period of time.
Liquor Licensing Law- This act came in 2003 specifies that in order to supply liquor in
market it requires authentic license otherwise it would be illegal to supply alcohol. For this
Zoopy Juice cafe needs to have proper license it order to supply alcohol(Anderson and et. al.,
2017).

Employment contract is a contract between the employer and the employee at the Zoopy
Juice Cafe in which laws and legislations are mentioned to which employee has to adhere with.
Their are various laws such as Work place health and safety and liquor license act which the
employee and employer has to adhere with. This greatly impacts decision making as while
advertising and marketing its activities as they have to consider various laws and regulations
other wise it greatly impacts the image of the company within the market place.
2.4 Stages of HR life cycle and importance of HR in supporting, growing and retaining talent for
a specific job role
As the HR Manager at Zoopy juice cafe is hiring position for HR executive which needs
to adopt various stages to HR cycle are mentioned below-
Recruiting – It is the process relating to attracting, choosing and hiring a prospective
candidate for vacant position at Zoopy juice cafe. For this HR departments needs to
develop effective strategies and should conduct the interview and written test of
employees.
Education- It is the stage which is concerned with knowledge of the employ ye related to
position they have applied. Candidates applying for the position of HR executive should
be well aware about job duties roles and responsibilities.
Motivation- It is essential for HR at Zoopy cafe to motivate its candidates to perform
effectively and in turn reduces turnover. This could be provided in the form of attractive
compensation and appreciating their work (Bruce and Stephens, 2017).
Evaluation- Under this stage, manager of the cafe evaluates the performance of the
employee to determine whether they are fit for the job and provides necessary trainings in
order to improve their work performance.

motivates the employee to work with great dedication.

performance of employees in a effective manner.

It is recommended to the managers at Zoopy Cafe to to properly recruit the employees
which have enhanced skills and capabilities to perform well according to ever changing demands
of the customer. Along with the employees performance should be evaluated by the supervisors
at the Zoopy Cafe so that necessary trainings can be given to them to improve their performance.
Moreover it is also recommended that managers should motivate its employees and recognise
their work by a way of providing extra compensation and gifts which assist them to work
effectively (Barrish, 2012). Performance appraisal should be conducted so that employees can be
appraised according to employees performance which insist them to work with great dedication.

From the above project it has been determined that company has effectively use
accounting principles for effectively managing and monitoring financial performance. It is
useful for the company to use double entry book keeping system to record every sales and
purchase transactions. Their are various stages to HR life cycle which would be useful for the
company in attracting and retaining the candidate. Various communication methods are used by
