Introduction:
Hospitality and tourism sector of a country determines a huge part of the country’s economy.
Tourism and hospitality wing of the government is mainly concerned with management of the
hospitality of the tourists and control and maintenance of the spots and locations of the country
that are a visual attraction for the tourists. Hospitality is the part where the organization and
management of the incoming tourists takes place. It includes hotels, guest rooms, restaurants and
resorts which are necessary for the accommodation and lodging process (J.R. Walker and J.T
Walker 2016).
In this context the inter relation and effect of hospitality sector on the travel and tourism
department of PKF Hotel experts is been studied in detail. There are certain improvements that
can be made by which the hospitality sector in the travel and tourism department can flourish and
grow. In many countries, travel and tourism department determines almost half of the business
economy and revenue. The incorporation of advanced ideas and plans in the hospitality sector
has had a positive impact on the tourism and travel business.
LO1 Understand the role of the hospitality industry within the travel and tourism sector
1.1 Discuss the interrelationships between hospitality and wider travel and tourism
businesses
Hospitality and tourism department are interlinked. The tourism department deals with the
maintenance and development of the locations, the historical spots and other sites which the
incoming tourists are interested in. Hospitality on the other hand means the operation and
preservation of the tourists. The interrelation between hospitality and tourism determines t he
final business outcome. The idea of hospitality is to accommodate the tourists. The hospitality
department concerning housing and lodging of the tourists include hotels, guest rooms and
houses, resorts and motels and cabins. Other than that the hospitality sector also includes the
maintenance of the theme parks, restaurants for the beverage and food sector and the adventure
parks (Cook et al., 2014). For any travel and tourism sector to evolve there needs to be a proper
medium of communication for the tourists. This includes cab and bus services, airlines and ships.

Therefore, both tourism and hospitality sector are inter connected and together defines a portion
of the country’s business revenue output and economy.
Being a part of PKF hotel experts I was able to witness the fact how travel and tourism
department is connected with the hospitality wing. I currently work a junior consultant and my
main area of concern is the functioning and processes of the hotels and other parameters related
to the tourism sector. Tourism in UK is one of the significant sources of economy and business
revenue. There are certain parameters and factors that guide and determine the functioning of the
tourism and hospitality department of the city and the PKF hotelexperts. Hospitality management
in UK is considered to be a determining factor for the total business output in the travel and
tourism sector. It has been observed that the tourism sector depends on the quality of the
generosity and communication that the hotel presents. A warm and courteous reception from the
administration reflects an optimistic and positive approach and this in turn provides a good
medium of communication among the hotel authority of PKF hotelexperts and the current
customers. This approach also provides a huge scope in increase in the customer base and
introduction of potential customers. In PKF hotelexperts the tourists and customers travel from
all around the globe and it has been observed that they expect the host company to provide best
quality mode of communication. PKF hotelexperts have improved their transportation medium
for the customers; they have introduced best quality cabs and bus services for the pick and drop
services for the current customers. The company has also incorporated the idea of smaller modes
of communications like golf carts and cars for a soothing and enjoyable mode of communication
inside the campus (Mazur 2015).
Promotions and advertisement of such factors helps attract new tourists and this helps the
introduction of fresh and possible customers. In PKF hotelexperts the hospitality department is
primarily concerned with the lodging and accommodation of the customers and tourists. The
company needs to address all kinds of issues that may arise while dealing with the customers.
PKF hotelexperts looks forward introduce new ideas and strategies which can help provide a
better experience to the tourists. A great quality reception of the tourists will incorporate
positivism and the current customers will be willing to visit again and in most of the cases will
refer their friends and families to visit the hotels and resorts if they visit the city anytime soon.
The company reflects a positive vibe on the customers; the company provides external training

and development programs for their staffs and the workers so that they may be able to
understand their customers and a proper and decent behavior and calm and composed code is
necessary while dealing with them. PKF hotelexperts provide regular training and development
processes teaching its staff on how to reflect an optimistic approach and avoid any kind of chaos
or conflict with the customers which may affect the business output of the company (Mohammed
et al ., 2015).
Another factor of the hospitality department that affects the tourism sector is maintenance and
development of the recreational sites and locations. Tourists are attracted to the subsidiary theme
parks, the historical monuments and attractions and other recreational sites and locations.
Regular maintenance of the sites is necessary. PKF hotelexperts own a couple of recreational
sites in and out of the campus and it the administration of the company to control and maintain
those areas. Tourists are attracted to a clan and green sites so proper maintenance is necessary.
There have been instances when the tourists have expressed grief regarding the quality of
maintenance of the concerned the recreational sites, theme parks and the historical monuments.
For any company to have a successful business approach it is necessary for the organization to
provide a great quality service with respect to the food and beverage sector. IN PKF hotelexperts
special care is provided in training the chefs and conducting a filtered recruitment process sp that
the quality of the service is not compromised. All the above mentioned factors determine the
impact of hospitality sector and its interrelation with the travel and tourism business (Schuckert
et al ., 2015).
LO2 Understand the impact of integration within the hospitality industry
2.1 Analyze the implications of integration to the hospitality industry
According to Neuhofer et al., (2015) the main part of the hotel industry is Property Management
System (PMS). It has been found that there are various concerns in the hotel industry, which
remains between the integration of hotel and industry of hospitality. Therefore, being a Junior
Consultant in the hospitality industry it is necessary to analyze the implications of integration to

the hospitality industry. It is necessary to integrate in the hospitality industry for sustaining the
business properly and the reasons are stated below:
Integration in Centralized Accounting: Finance plays a vital part in this industry and it is
necessary for growth of the sector. It will mainly help in posting the charges of the room; all the
advances and payments are done on real time basis. It is helpful in maintain the record and to
control the expenses (Aragon-Correa et al., 2015). For this reason in the year 2015, France’s
AccorHotels bought the Toronto-based parent company of the luxury Fairmont.
Direct Billing and the Financial Records Receivable: Financial record, which is
receivable, includes billing, providing payments, invoice etc. It also confirms the
payment statement and it will help in proper functioning of the industry Teng et al.,
2015).
Management of Income: The cost of rooms, cost of other products of the hotels and
other products are recorded in the system of revenue it will help in the proper functioning
of the business. It mainly helps in the dual entry for reservation and the activity of sales
in different accounting system. It has been observed that different hotels all over the
world like Starwood Hotels & Resorts has been took over by Marriot International and
the value was 12,2 billion US$ and this was the huge transaction in 2007.
Fund Flow and Cash Book Maintenance: This feature will be implemented in the
hospitality industry to maintain the updates in the account of the bank. Thus, it helps in
updating the cash book and the bank book (Aragon-Correa et al., 2015). It will also
provide the knowledge of borrowing capital during necessary period.
Auditing System: With the help of the auditing system the organization will be able to
view records of the data and the transactions and also can comment on that. It will make
the work easier in this industry to achieve every activity accurately. Using spreadsheet for
keeping daily reports of collection while checking the financial account then there is
requirement of integration in the hospitality industry (Nieves and Segarra-Ciprés 2015).
In this way the organization can view the data related to finance, income and expenditure

and look for the overall profit. It will also help to take over other hotels as it was earlier
by Intercontinental Hotels Group acquired Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants for about
$430 million.
Maintaining the KPI: In each and every industry KPI (Key Performance Indicators)
plays a vital role in measuring the performance of the individual or the industry. It will be
related to the main target of the industry, performance of the payments of debtors can be
available very easily. This process will help the industry to check the record of
investments to return the same to the bank or the individual (Li, et al., 2015). It will also
help in comparison with the cost of operation in regard to the revenue of the organization.
Thus it will make easy for knowing the performance level of the industry whether it can
take any new project or not.
2.2 Discuss how integration has affected a hospitality business
The main focus that has been made in this hospitality sectors is totally involved with the factors
that shows different aspects of the corporate business in the challenging business. Hence, the
marketing managers of the companies are taking several steps based upon which they can get
several benefits that will improve the present scenario of the company in the market. In this
regards, one of the largest hospitality organization in the market is the Marriott Hotel that is in
operation for a very longer times (Dixit, 2016). According to various researchers, the main aim
of the integration in the business is to build a firm relationship with the customers and to deliver
the proper service to them. The main reason behind the integration of the business process is to
expand the business in the market and at the same time to attract more customers from the
market. In general there are two types of integration that is followed by the companies in order to
gain all the suitable benefits in the business process.
Horizontal integration:
This process is directly involved with the factors of the overall production of the company; the
service offered by the company for its customers’ and the regulation of the supply chain
management process that is aligned with the expanded business in the new market. The main aim

and the objective that is helpful in order to meet the horizontal business nature is incorporated
with the acquisition of the new innovative features and the planning’s of the organization and
with the help of the mergers that is suitable for the organization.
Figure 1: Horizontal integration
(Source: Kropinova et al., 2015)
According to various researcher and the marketing managers it has been suggested that the
Marriott hotel has managed to incorporate all this necessary changes in the organization that has
given the company a competitive advantages in order to satisfy its customers and to expand their
business in the international market. However, with the implementation of the suitable
technologies and the innovative service features has been adopted by the organization in order
improve their co9nition in the UK market that what it was before. The organization has
incorporated with several third party organizational that is directly involved in the promoting and
the collecting the proper reviews from the loyal customer of the company. Based upon the short
coming and the issue faced by the both of the company and the customers in the market, the
organization has improved the marketing position of the company in the domestic and in the
international market.
Vertical Integration:
This portion of the integration is directly involved with the shareholders and the different

the hospitality organization are incorporated with several important factors in the supply chain
management that helps to prepare the actual products and the innovative supply chain

In this particular the Marriott Hotel has numbers of the shareholders for their operation and the
supply chain management technologies that helps to improve their condition in the market at the
same time gives a competitive advantage in the particular segments of operation. Hence, it can
be justified that while there are several options available in the hand of the organization that can
be implemented by the organization in order to have the justifications of the service offered or
the products delivered by the company. Being one of the renowned and largest hotels in UK
market, there are several diversification of the entire service process of the company (Minazzi et
al., 2015).

The main strength of the Marriott hotel is the loyal stakeholders and the suppliers of the hotel.
They are continuously providing the innovative ideas regarding the service policies and the
customers care procedures. Apart from this, the shareholders of the organization is emphasizing
on the communication platforms of the organization depending upon which, the organization can
reach to their customers’ for better relationships for the organization. In this communication
scenario can be justified that the Marriott hotel has developed their personal organization website
where the customers can directly report their service process and the quality of service they
wants from the organization. Being a hospitality sectors the main aim of the hotel is to provide
the optimum service quality to its customers so that they can improve the quality of service at the
same time to expand the business in the broader aspects. Apart from this, the social media
platforms and the direct communication with the customers are also providing the authentic data
from the customers of the company. This is also providing the company suitable advantage based
upon which, they can redesign their organizational activities and the marketing strategies. The
upcoming services offered and the innovative service quality offered by the company is being
notified to its customers is short span of the time with is helpful in order to provide the company
all the essential qualities and the essential areas that need to be improved in their service process.
Market Control:
This is another beneficiary factor that is being offered by the integration process for the
hospitality organizations. Depending upon the market control, the organization gets proper
reviews regarding the effectiveness of the implemented marketing strategies and the cost
advantageous factors for the organization (Sotiriadis and Apostolakis, 2015). In case of the
Marriott Hotel, there are numbers of loyal customers from both of the domestic as well from the
international market who only prefers to have the service from this particular organization and
suggest suitable factors that can improve the service quality of the organization further. In case
of the travel and tourism sectors, the comfort and the safety are the two most vital issues that are
being confronted by the service users. Hence, the Marriott Hotel is continuously updating their
organizational strategies that are based upon improving the entire activities in the travel and
tourism sectors. While the customers’ are coming from the international market, the safety issues
are the most essential to be fulfilled without any fail (Bunakov et al., 2015).

Based on this factor and the goodwill’s possessed by the organization in their section of
operation, it becomes vital for the customers to put up trusts on the particular organization.
Besides this, the word of mouth approach also plays a vital role in order to increase the customer
attraction towards the organization. Branding also helps to indicate the product quality and the
choice of the customers of the particular product. It has been often justified by the researcher that
the effectiveness of the implemented strategies severally depends upon branding. Therefore, the
hospitality organizations are directly emphasizing on the factors of improving the brand
reorganization for their organization.
LO3 be able to plan the development of hospitality businesses
3.1 Develop a rationale for a selected project clearly justifying decisions linked to target
market
There are several aspects in which, the companies are targeting their range of their operations in
the market. There are several aspects where there are enough scopes for the companies to get the
proper reviews from the customers of the hospitality sectors trading process. Therefore, most of
the time it has been justified that while the companies are making some marketing strategies
depending upon the desired target of the customers form the organization. It has becomes the
most suitable process depending upon which, the organization can get proper reviews and
suitable communication that will give the organization a competitive strength to continue their
trading process in the market (Smith and Puczkó, 2014). In this particular scenario, the Starwood
Hotel & resorts by Marriott Hotel has invested reasonable amount behind this particular hotel in
order to make this organization redesigned with innovative feature and the suitable technological
beneficiary factor as per the customers need. However, the most important task is to make the
proper planning that will incorporate the innovative and the unique feature sin order to get the
proper aspects of the company. Being a junior consultant, it is the prime objective to develop the
proper planning’s for the small scale hospitality sectors that will give the organization enough
scopes in order to meet the desired target of the customers as well as to have the proper
understandings of the nature of the customers and their choices from the hospitality sectors. In
this particular context, the small scale hospitality sectors have been chosen as the launching of
the restaurants, hotel, bars and pubs for under the surroundings of the company.

of the implemented strategies that will give the organization a competitive advantage in order to
meet the demands of the customers.

hospitality sectors in order get the proper implementation new market where the company can
make the entry and to attract customer with the innovative planning’s implemented by the
company. It can be further justified that while there are huge scopes offered to the travelers they
also gets motivation to travel which is a beneficial factors for the government profit generation
factors also. For the parts few years tether is huge progress in the hospitality sectors that has also
offered several important scopes not only for the domestic customer as well as for the
international tourist to enjoy their holidays with optimum comfort.

The geographical location is also important factors that give the hospitality sectors an important
opportunity in order to attract more customers in their premises. The scenic beauty and the
natural views of the sites increase the interest to travel among the traveler to visits that site again.
